The Senior Data Scientist uses data and analytics to deliver business value. They aren’t afraid of large, messy, or unstructured data or complex machine learning algorithms, but they won’t hesitate to solve the problem with a simple spreadsheet, if that’s the best answer. They can work directly and communicate efficiently with partners and stakeholders in technology, operations, risk, legal, and other domains to understand the problem and craft a solution. 

 

In this role, the Senior Data Scientist will design and deliver end-to-end analytical and machine learning solutions that support customer-facing decisions, internal simulations and analytics, and strategic decision making. The associate will contribute from data acquisition through model development, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance across a range of approaches (e.g. XGBoost/LightGBM, Bayesian methods, and other statistical/ML techniques). They will also support experimentation and measurement, including A/B testing and more advanced methods where appropriate (e.g., multi-arm bandits), and help communicate results through clear storytelling, executive-ready materials, and well-structured decks. Where valuable, the associate may incorporate modern large language model (LLM) techniques to work with unstructured data and build practical LLM-enabled workflows with appropriate evaluation, monitoring, and governance. The associate will interact with, influence, and collaborate with all levels within the organization to understand and implement business solutions, including defining success metrics and managing OKRs. 

  

Duties and responsibilities 

 

  • Design, develop, implement, monitor, and maintain valuations related machine learning models  

  • Manage data analysis and modeling projects leveraging appropriate statistical, mathematical or machine learning tools to support business strategies and outcomes 

  • Manage analytic solutions (data, tools reports, models) that advance and accelerate business partner agenda 

  • Generate and synthesize customer and market insights from a wide variety of data systems  

  • Prepare reports of analysis results for business partners and other non-technical audiences 

  • Develop needed databases, data structures, compute patterns and operational processes to extract maximum value form existing and new data assets 

  • Write “production worthy” code and perform code review and necessary testing to ensure that data products meet the highest quality and production standards 

  • Identify opportunities to apply statistical methods to improve business performance, advance new strategies or to solve existing challenges. 

  • Work cross-functionally with peers in Technology, product, and business analysts to identify new attributes and applications 

  • Create business intelligence, dashboards, and/or other advanced analytics metrics and reports to adequately communicate the business narrative and offer recommendations that are actionable and have material impact.  

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior level team members, modeling effective working relationships and solution-building that demonstrates product value.

Minimum Qualifications 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research.    

  • 3+ years’ experience with predictive analytics, implementing data products or analytic solutions, or related consulting experience with a proven record of performance 

  • Proficient with Python, R, SQL or other common analytic programming languages 

  • Familiarity with software management and change control systems, such as Git, GitHub, Bitbucket, etc.  

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Advanced degree preferred  

  • Experience with consumer finance is desired

  • Locations:  Dallas, TX, Greenville, SC or Remote

  • The compensation for this position varies by location and experience. The range is between $99,000 and $149,782.84 annual.
