Your New Role
We are seeking a Senior Counsel, Legal to provide transactional support and legal guidance on all aspects of advertising and marketing campaigns for Warner Bros. Discovery’s programming and brands, as well as providing transactional support and legal advice for the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, and Corporate Affairs initiatives.
It is an essential function of this position that the work be performed partially from the Company’s offices, as team meetings, team and cross-department collaboration, and project management with colleagues is important for this role.
Your Role Accountabilities
Marketing Legal Clearance
Provide legal support and clearance on all aspects of our domestic and global marketing campaigns, including with respect to traditional advertising, added value materials, social media, experiential activations, co-promotions with global and niche brands, and sweepstakes and contests. Must be able to identify and advise on intellectual property and right of publicity concerns, regulatory compliance, and data issues.
Partner with internal stakeholders, including marketing, corporate communications, programming legal and business affairs, compliance, business teams, privacy, and regional legal counterparts to ensure cross-departmental alignment and to enable business objectives while managing legal risks.
Project manage a team of analysts on advertising clearance and review of marketing assets, campaign activations and events, podcasts, and other promotional initiatives
Monitor evolving legal standards impacting advertising and marketing, ensuring the company remains ahead of emerging risks.
Transactional Support
Draft and negotiate contracts in support of marketing, promotional, and publicity initiatives, including advertising agency agreements, co-promotional agreements, sponsorship agreements, licensing agreements, event agreements, consulting agreements and digital and emerging technology development transactions.
Provide legal guidance and transactional support to the Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Affairs, and Corporate Affairs teams on all related company and executive suite initiatives, including sponsorships, non-profit partnerships, consulting agreements, event agreements, releases and waivers, and prize supplier agreements.
Advise applicable client groups on all legal risks in connection with transactions and other engagement and maintain all contract records for internal record keeping
Program Development & Trainings
Help develop team presentations, training materials and internal processes to promote efficiency. Assist in training cross-functional teams on marketing law, advertising regulations, and consumer protection policies to ensure compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
4+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience in advertising/marketing law.
Undergraduate degree required as well as Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required
Admission to NY bar required and bar membership must be in good standing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, business sense, and the ability to make practical evaluations of risk. Excellent negotiation skills for contracts related to marketing.
Must be able to provide direct, plain-spoken advice to clients (no legalese) and effectively and collaboratively communicate to colleagues and clients at all levels
Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be a problem solver who works as a business partner with clients

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $159,180.00 - $295,620.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
