What You’ll Be Doing

The Senior Consultant reporting to the Director, Regulatory Compliance Management (RMC) Program and Policy, supports Enterprise-wide Compliance initiatives and programs, focusing on policy development, implementation, and advisory services. The role requires collaboration across multiple teams, engagement with stakeholders, and subject matter expertise in Outside Business Activities (OBA) and MyComplianceOffice (MCO). The Senior Consultant will support compliance oversight by assisting in the review, maintenance, and continuous improvement of key governance documents, including the: Compliance Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Management Policy, Related Party Policy, Quebec Integrity of Public Contracts (AMP), Outside Business Activity Guideline, Outside Business Activity Accountabilities Chart, Code of Conduct. This role ensures these policies remain current, relevant, and aligned with regulatory requirements and organizational standards. The Senior Consultant is instrumental in maintaining governance documents, supporting global policy review, and driving continuous improvement in compliance processes.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.  Assist in the design and preparation of senior management, executive and Board reports generated on behalf of the CCO.

  • Enterprise-wide Compliance Oversight: Assist in the preparation of Compliance-owned policies and programs including, but not limited, to the Regulatory Compliance Management Policy, Outside Business Activity approval process. Act as a subject matter expert responding to questions from, and providing advice to, other Compliance groups and CIBC employees regarding the application of Compliance-owned policies.

  • Industry Knowledge: Actively participate in Compliance industry associations and developing and maintaining relationships with peers within CIBC and at comparable financial institutions in order to stay abreast of industry developments that may inform EWC related policies.

  • Thought Leadership – Conduct research, review industry-wide best practices and standards to enhance EWC programs and develop best practices and recommendations concerning EWC programs that may be adopted at CIBC. Develop and analyze metrics governing EWC programs and incorporate into regular and periodic reporting.
