Sr Benefit Guidance & Outreach Navigator

As a Sr Benefit Guidance and Outreach Navigator, you will be essential in growing G.E.H.A membership by educating our prospective members about G.E.H.A health plan offerings and guiding them through health plan selection. This role requires the ability to educate and engage prospects and members virtually, by phone, and in person, as well as flexibility to travel for events, orientations, and conferences. This position is also responsible for conducting outreach to consumers, members, and prospective members about available benefits, ensuring they understand their coverage and how to navigate their policies.

SKILLS

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Drives membership growth by providing consultation and navigation on G.E.H.A medical and dental plans to newly hired or newly eligible postal and federal employees and retirees.
  • Educates and supports prospects and members virtually, in person, and via phone, using channels such as video conferencing, phone, chat, email, and onsite engagement.
  • Conducts virtual and in-person presentations, new employee orientations, conferences, and outreach events throughout the year to groups of federal employees on G.E.H.A medical and dental plans, including new hire and retiree (Medicare-related) benefits.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to travel to attend or host in-person events, including community events, workshops, agency meetings, and conferences as needed to support outreach and enrollment efforts.
  • Fields inbound calls from ABOs regarding requests for materials and/or event support.
  • Executes outbound calling to pursue and engage qualified leads, prospective members, and ABOs, including Open Season support.
  • Provides proactive outreach and education to members and prospects regarding available benefits, ensuring understanding of coverage and navigation of policies.
  • Ability to create and present presentations to various size audiences.
  • Captures and documents all consultation and outreach activities in required systems in compliance with training standards, quality metrics, and conflict of interest policies. 
  • Upholds G.E.H.A core values and participates in other membership growth, retention, and outreach-related duties as assigned. 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Associate’s degree in healthcare, business, nonprofit, or related fields; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience (e.g., customer service, education, public speaking, outreach, healthcare, social work).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in health insurance or a similar role within a healthcare setting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively educate individuals and groups across virtual, phone, and in-person settings.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed to support events, presentations, and outreach initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability to change, dependability, and effective time management.
Additional Preferences
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed, especially during Open Enrollment (November 1 – December 15).

Work-at-home requirements

  • Must have the ability to provide a non-cellular High Speed Internet Service such as Fiber, DSL, or cable Modems for a home office.
  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 30x5 (30mpbs download x 5mpbs upload) is required.
  • Latency (ping) response time lower than 80 ms
  • Hotspots, satellite and wireless internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.  G.E.H.A considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

The hiring range for this position is $63,429 - $80,241 USD. At G.E.H.A, the current maximum salary for this role is $89,411 USD. While initial compensation may vary based on experience and qualifications, there is a path to work toward this top rate through performance and continued growth within the organization.
