ABOUT THE ROLE
Role Description:
The Sr. Associate Software Engineer will be part of the Clinical Computation Platform Product Team, responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining scalable software solutions that support clinical data analysis. This role requires strong understanding of DevOps capabilities and hands-on experience with modern cloud-native technologies.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead complex software projects from conception through deployment, managing scope, risk, and timelines.
Rapidly prototype and translate concepts into functional code.
Design, develop, and implement applications, modules, custom reports, interfaces, and enhancements.
Analyse functional and technical requirements and translate them into scalable software architecture and design specifications.
Develop and execute unit, integration, and other testing strategies to ensure software quality.
Identify and resolve software bugs, performance issues, and technical challenges.
Operate and maintain Amgen’s Open-Source POSIT/Python Compute Platforms, containers, and hosted applications.
Manage CI/CD pipelines, configuration-as-code, secrets management, and environment provisioning/monitoring.
Integrate applications with other systems to ensure seamless data flow and functionality.
Customize modules to meet specific business needs.
Maintain comprehensive documentation on software architecture, design, deployment, disaster recovery, and operations.
Provide ongoing support and maintenance to ensure smooth and efficient application performance.
Stay current with advancements in cloud technologies and POSIT tools.
Collaborate closely with product, business, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s / Bachelor’s degree with 5 to 8 years of Computer Science, IT or related field experience
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Strong knowledge of information systems and network technologies
Proficiency in programming languages including Python and R
Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum
Strong problem solving, analytical skills; Ability to learn quickly; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good-to-Have Skills:
Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Working experience with DevOps/MLOps practice and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with monitoring and logging tools
Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks
Soft Skills:
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
Team-oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals
Shift Information:
This position requires you to work a later shift and may be assigned a second or third shift schedule. Candidates must be willing and able to work during evening or night shifts, as required based on business requirements.
