POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Sr. Associate II, Accounting & Reporting, you will lead complex inventory provision processes for International affiliates and manage month-end close activities. Based in AGS Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this role involves solving sophisticated inventory-related issues and generating insights through the analysis of large data sets.
You will be part of the International Center of Excellence (CoE) team, contributing to global process improvements and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be responsible for the accounting and reporting of inventory for the trading company and affiliates
Deliver high-quality reporting with insightful financial information for key stakeholders, e.g., being able to explain main drivers for variances
Participate in various projects related to finance and systems that simplify and improve current processes
Drive simplicity by standardizing the assigned R2R / FRA processes by increasing Finance Core convergence, and by developing tools and processes for constant quality and efficiency improvements; strategize with global process owners on process rollouts
Improve and optimize the monthly closing and reporting processes, including additional controls and checks, standardization, minimization of manual adjustments, automations, etc.
Be responsible for compliance with AMA and AFCM
Manage complex calculations, such as inventory provisions for International region entities within the International CoE team, including reporting quarterly outcomes to Regional region heads
Continue to improve the inventory provision process across the region, including automation, stakeholder contribution, and management involvement
Support period-end closing by preparing reconciliations as well as related accruals and provision bookings
Ensure that complete, timely and accurate financial data for inventory-related accounts/schedules are submitted to both Alcon Product Margin Reporting (APMR) and the Financial Consolidation Reporting System (FCRS) every month
Investigate and report Goods in Transit
Cooperate with Global Supply Chain Finance and Operations functions and distributors in defining global standard operating procedures and fixing financial issues
Participate in inventory projects, such as the establishment of new regional distribution centers as well as inventory transfers, both of which span outside of the International region, global inventory provision strategic reviews, etc.
Contribute to operational projects within the International Center of Excellence (CoE), potentially acting as the single point of contact (SPOC) for Inventory accounting topics or other initiatives affecting the Excellence team.
Act as Business Partner with relevant functions, providing necessary information related to financial information, processes, and reporting units
Facilitate integration and accounting of newly acquired entities
Support ad-hoc internal, group, and corporate requests as needed
Challenge current processes to identify improvement opportunities
Create and update Desktop Procedures
Act as liaison with internal and external auditors
Demonstrate team leadership and be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and directly supervising junior associates to ensure deliverables are being met on time
Lead discussions on analytics capabilities and collaborate with the Planning Excellence team to identify potential new critical metrics and data extraction/transformation needs
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs.; Assoc.+9 yrs.; M.S.+2 yrs.; PhD +0 yrs.)
The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
