The Sr Advisor Regulatory Compliance provides advice on regulatory matters throughout the project lifecycle. In this role, employees are assigned to both routine and major projects for Liquids Pipelines and Renewable Power Projects. You will also be a key point of contact for project-related matters before State utility commissions and local government regulators.

What You Will Do:

  • Coordinating the regulatory process for both routine and major projects including the development of regulatory strategies, plans and timelines in collaboration with Law and Project Directors/Managers.

  • Leading cross-functional regulatory teams involved in preparing regulatory applications and other filings including providing advice on requirements and effective methods of meeting requirements and enhancing the probability of approval by the regulator and/or minimization of conditions attached to the approval.

  • Drafting sections of the regulatory application and reviewing sections to ensure consistency, clarity and completeness of all sections of the application and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Preparing and filing compliance reports with federal, state, and local regulators as required. May interact with other departments as necessary to complete compliance filings.

  • Developing and maintaining a rapport with regulator staff with respect to assigned projects and long-term relationship management.

  • Required to handle multiple projects, both major and routine, at the same time.

  • Providing oversight, guidance, and support for local permitting for Liquids Pipelines and Power projects.

  • Stays current on regulatory initiatives, emerging trends and best practices related to regulation of liquids pipelines and renewable power projects in the U.S.
     

Who You Are:

  • University degree (e.g. Business/Commerce, Science or Engineering preferred).

  • 6 or more years of regulatory experience with success in interacting with regulatory authorities preferred.

  • Knowledge of liquids pipeline operations and facilities and renewable power project permitting considered an asset.

  • Able to work effectively within a cross-functional team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Strong planning, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
     

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment

  • Travel within US and occasional travel to Canada

  • Reports to the Supervisor, Regulatory Affairs.
     

Physical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
 

Salary:

  • Ranges from $100,000 – $140,000 USD for US locations based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.
