In this role, you will be responsible for supplier selection, qualification, development, and management processes to achieve the expected level of purchasing quality, cost and service. The SQM ensures that suppliers are capable and complying with KONE’s quality and sustainability requirements. SQM effectively applies supplier quality management processes, tools, and resources to drive KONE Supplier Excellence.
Responsibilities and key activities:
- Leads and manages the Escalator Structure and Visual tribe SQM work in China.
- Represents China Regional SQM in Structure and Visual tribe.
- Develops, communicates and ensures execution of SQM initiatives within the region in alignment with the regional tribe plan.
- Ensure execution of KONE purchasing and supplier quality management strategy and targets in the region.
- Leads, coaches, involves and develops SQM Regional tribe team members
- Execute operational SQM work at KONE suppliers providing leadership to suppliers and supporting KONE stakeholders such as KONE tribe teams, Purchasing, Supply Lines, Technology, Modernization, Major Projects, Overseas export/import, and Installation, maintenance.
- Define the critical supplier list and conducts supplier audits, Gemba, CIT per the supplier management plan
- Prepares, negotiates and keeps updated the Quality Annex, as part of the Supply and Purchasing Frame Agreement, in close cooperation with KONE Contract Owner.
- Acts as an active member in PD/CR projects, by ensuring high quality KONE PPAP via feasibility study, supplier "Launch" readiness, risk management (FMEA), suitable management method of Critical-to-Quality (CtQ) in suppliers’ processes and change management (KPPAP)
- Measures and reports supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs*), drive and push suppliers to keep KPIs on target.
- Lead Structure and Visual tribe suppliers Scorecard process and discuss with tribe to make sure the relative actions will be taken in both suppliers and tribe.
- Identifies and drives corrective, preventive and recovery actions at/with suppliers*
- Leading CRs of new supplier development, implementing new suppliers audit and supplier APQP process.
- Ensures suppliers’ compliance with Purchasing and KONE policies, processes and procedures
- Ensures suppliers’ compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards
Requirements for the role:
- At the minimum B.SC level technical / Mechanic / industrial Eng degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Mechanics parts fabrication manufacturing environment (E.g. Machining, welding, assembly, casting, painting, plating, etc.) with a strong technical background
- Product and process auditing experience, management system auditing experience with ISO 9001, IATF16949, and VDA6.3 or similar
- Excellent team management skills
- Fluency in English (Read, Write, and Spoken)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and can interface with many parties at all levels in an international and cross-cultural environment
- Good analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills accompanied by an excellent project management approach with strong stakeholder management capabilities
- Strong solution-oriented approach, capability to implement, and persistency in follow-up activities to ensure quality and sustainability
- Proficient in using the five core quality tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA
- Self-driven and self-motivated to learn and coach others to produce results
- Willingness to travel internationally (~ 30% of the time)

- Certification within Lean and/or Six Sigma green belt/BB
- Understand automotive industry quality practices such as VDA 6.3
- Strong background in mechanical engineering and/or material sciences
