Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel San Antonio as the Springboard Fellow. You will build one-on-one relationships with students, plan and execute engaging events and programs across campus, and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life. At Hillel San Antonio, students are eager to explore meaningful Jewish experiences, and your role will help shape a dynamic community that fosters #AllKindsofJewish. 

You’ll be at the heart of student engagement, creating programs that spark curiosity, connection, and leadership. You’ll collaborate with student leaders, staff, and campus partners to bring fresh ideas to life, while learning how to nurture and sustain a meaningful Jewish community. This role is integral to Hillel San Antonio's success because you’ll help set the tone for how students experience Jewish life, ensuring it’s accessible, exciting, and transformative. You'll wake up each day (or at least most) genuinely excited and enthusiastic about creating an inviting place that inspires students to explore, experience, and build vibrant Jewish lives. This is so much more than your average 9-to-5.

About The Springboard Fellowship

The Springboard Fellowship is a paid, two-year fellowship that brings recent college grads with raw talent, passion, and skills needed to reimagine and redesign Jewish student life to college campuses across North America. 

Trained in Relationship-Based Engagement, Human-Centered Design and other entrepreneurial frameworks, you will be exposed to the most successful initiatives from across the Hillel movement. Fellows will work with students to imagine, create, and refine experiences for Jewish life that dramatically impact student engagement, efficiently and strategically apply and scale successful initiatives from across the movement, and give birth to cutting-edge ideas that have the potential to transform how Hillel and creates inclusive spaces for #AllKindsOfJewish.

We’re looking for people who embrace challenges, take risks, fail, and learn from the past, while maintaining their passion and sense of humor. Extensive Jewish education is not necessary — just an interest in creating a vibrant Jewish community, a commitment to learning, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students. 

About Hillel San Antonio

Hillel San Antonio is a vibrant, multi-campus Hillel serving Jewish students across eight colleges and universities in the San Antonio area. Our primary focus is building strong Jewish communities at The University of Texas at San Antonio and Trinity University, where the majority of our students study and gather.

San Antonio is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States and is home to a dynamic Jewish community. Hillel San Antonio connects students to meaningful Jewish life through Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, leadership opportunities, social gatherings, learning experiences, and community service. Our approach emphasizes relationship-building and student leadership, empowering students to shape Jewish life on their campuses while connecting them to the broader San Antonio Jewish community.

As a multi-campus Hillel, we meet students where they are—on campus, in residence halls, in coffee shops, and at community spaces—to create meaningful Jewish experiences. Our programs bring together students from across our campuses while also supporting campus-based initiatives at UTSA and Trinity.

Through partnerships with local synagogues, community organizations, and alumni, Hillel San Antonio helps students explore Jewish identity, celebrate tradition, develop leadership skills, and build lasting friendships during their college years.

 

What You’ll Do

GOALS: 

• Build meaningful connections with students to foster engagement and community.
• Plan, coordinate, and support large-scale campus programs and events.
• Collaborate with staff and student leaders to develop new initiatives.
• Strengthen professional skills in leadership, programming, and project management.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Meet with students from different cohorts and demographics on campus to engage them, identify their interests, and connect them to opportunities.
• Map out a plan to strategically build one-on-one relationships with 100 students currently not engaged in Jewish life.
• Supervise student interns who are responsible for engaging their peers in Jewish life on campus.
• Co-Teach Jewish Learning Fellowship
• The Fellow will support large-scale High Holiday events and Israel engagement programs, helping with planning, execution, and student engagement across campus.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

• 0 -3 years professional work experience
• Bachelor's degree
• This is an in-person role located in San Antonio; remote work is not available for this position. 

• Strong entrepreneurial spirit. Things may not always go according to plan, and you must be willing to take risks and learn from your wins as well as your losses.
• Confidence in initiating and running programs, and comfort in asking questions.
• Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism. 

What You’ll Receive

• Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $46,000 - $48,000 in year one of the Fellowship, and the salary range is $48,000- $50,000 in year two of the Fellowship.
• A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, Life, AD&D, and Long Term Disability (LTD) insurances, Flexible Spending accounts, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.
• High-level professional development to help develop core skills in experiential education, including learning from some of the most innovative organizations in Jewish education today. 
• $3,200 in professional development funds from the Springboard Fellowship to utilize over the course of two years.
• Intensive Jewish summer and year-long learning experiences that will provide you with the knowledge, passion, and critical tool kit to fuel your work building our Jewish communities. 
• Mentoring and career coaching to help you during and after your Fellowship. 
• A network of terrific colleagues from across the Hillel movement. 
• Travel opportunities, both domestically and internationally, multiple times per year (if permitted).
