Job Description Summary:
Under limited supervision, the purpose of this position is to officiate and supervise the adult men's, women's, or co-ed recreational games and leagues.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a safe and secure environment for all participants.
Uses appropriate disciplinary techniques with participants and logs all incidents.
Interacts and communicates effectively with other officials, facility supervisor, program coordinator, participants, and other employees.
Accounts for equipment.
Remains composed in emergency situations and makes sound judgment decisions during emergency and non-emergency situations.
Officiates league games.
Maintains a professional manner while on duty, and mediate disputes calmly and professionally.
Attends all trainings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to provide excellent guest service to participants.
Ability to communicate effectively when enforcing policies, rules and regulations.
Skills in effective interpersonal relations, including conflict resolution.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to demonstrate promptness.
Ability to attend all necessary trainings.
Ability to speak, write, and understand English.
Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned area and make judgments related to safety.
Ability to demonstrate a clean and neat appearance.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of City of Boulder rules specific to sport being officiated.
Knowledge of sports including rules, skills, concepts, and game play.
Knowledge of injury prevention & treatment.
Previous officiating experience.
CPR/ AED, First Aid certification.
Formal training as an official.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in customer service.
Previous experience as a participant in an organized sports program.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Physical and Mental Effort: Must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina, and flexibility to lift, carry or move a variety of objects up to 50 lbs. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations. Sufficient manual dexterity permits the employee to use their hands to make physical signals, use hand tools and remotes. Must have sufficient mobility to officiate kickball games including, running, crouching, jumping, bending, yelling, mechanics, etc. Ability to work under stress from public contact and changing priorities and conditions.
Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Machines and Equipment Used: Some sports equipment, including but not limited to: Kickballs, softballs, volleyballs, dodgeballs, rakes, shovels, and remotes general sports related equipment.
