Position Summary

The Trinity Health Career Training Program (THCTP) offers sponsored education opportunities in collaboration with the College to help participants gain certification in an approved Academic Program. This program is designed to support career advancement while maintaining compliance with Trinity Health policies, Registered Apprenticeship Standards, and accreditation requirements.

Key Expectations and Responsibilities

Program Distinction

  • Understand that sponsored education is separate from the College’s Academic Program and does not override accreditation or apprenticeship standards.

Financial Aid

  • Apply for all available financial aid (grants, scholarships, subsidies). Aid will be applied before tuition assistance from the Ministry.

Tuition Payments

  • Tuition will be paid directly to the College by the Ministry.
  • Participants are responsible for any additional fees, retaken courses, or costs beyond the approved program.
  • Overpayments must be returned to the Ministry.

Tax Compliance

  • Tuition assistance may be taxable beyond IRS limits. Participants are responsible for understanding tax implications and seeking professional advice.

Compensation

  • Employees will continue to receive pay for regular work hours.
  • Academic activities outside work hours are unpaid unless pre-approved by the CHRO.

Study Time

  • Academic requirements (lectures, study time) must occur outside working hours unless written approval is obtained.

Academic Standing

  • Maintain good academic standing as defined by the College.
  • Complete the program within six months of the anticipated end date.

Onsite Training

  • Complete externship or clinical rotations at the Ministry when feasible.
  • Adjust work schedules to ensure combined hours do not exceed 40 per week.

Proof of Progress and Completion

  • Provide transcripts, tuition invoices, graduation documents, and certification proof within five days of completion.
  • Failure to graduate or pass certification may result in full tuition repayment.

Post-Certification Employment

  • The Ministry will assist in finding a position related to the certification earned.
  • Employment remains at-will unless covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Work Commitment

  • Commit to 2,080 hours (approximately 12 months full-time) in an eligible certified/licensed position post-certification.

Repayment Obligation

  • Breach of agreement (failure to complete program, certification, or work commitment) may result in repayment of tuition costs.
  • Repayment may be prorated at the Ministry’s discretion.

Qualifications

  • Current employee in good standing with Trinity Health or current student in an approved Academic Program in good standing.
  • Eligible for the approved Academic Program.
  • Ability to meet program timelines and maintain compliance with all expectations.
