Specialist, Regulatory Compliance - Remote

This position supports the Organization’s regulatory compliance and risk mitigation activities by coordinating and applying compliance requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. Working under the direction of senior compliance staff, the role applies professional judgment to support regulatory filings, documentation, and internal guidance to help ensure ongoing compliance.

***This is a remote position that can be home-based anywhere within the United States. ***

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate and administer prize winner tax compliance, including determining applicable withholding requirements, ensuring accurate collection of tax documentation, and preparing required IRS reporting for applicable fundraising activities.  25%
  • Independently manage routine licenses and permits related to charitable gaming and alcohol; prepare, review and file required regulatory reporting related to sales and use tax, property tax, and business licenses ensuring compliance with applicable laws and deadlines. 25%
  • Monitor, evaluate and maintain exemption statuses and certificates, including assessing eligibility, documentation requirements and renewal obligations for sales and use tax, property tax, and resale activities across applicable jurisdictions. 20%
  • Interpret and apply changes in IRS, state, and local regulatory requirements and ACS policies and advise ACS team members on compliance implications related to fundraising and events. 10%
  • Develop and maintain compliance documentation, internal controls and reference materials designed to mitigate regulatory risk and support consistent internal policies and procedures. 10%
  • Assist the compliance team with unclaimed property filings, conducting sales and use tax and other regulatory compliance reviews, ad hoc projects and duties as assigned, and serving as a knowledgeable backup to the Sr. Consultant roles by independently handling assigned matters, escalations and inquiries as needed. 10%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, law or related field
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): none
  • Years of experience: 3 years relevant work experience or equivalent of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze regulatory requirements and determine appropriate compliance actions.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and consulting skills with a strong customer-service orientation and the ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail and contributes to quality control processes to ensure accuracy in compliance reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, and familiar with ACS financial systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, SharePoint, Conga, and Workday, with strong digital literacy across various online platforms.
  • Manages multiple priorities effectively and consistently meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional overnight travel required for team meetings and/or conferences

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to efficiently interact with computing & communication equipment for this full-time remote work assignment with reasonable accommodation if needed

The starting rate is $49,000 to $60,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
