Diageo has set up a Data, Analytics & Insights (DA&I) function within Diageo Business Services India Ltd. (DBSI) focused on demonstrating our core information assets (data, reporting, insights and advanced analytics capabilities) to better equip markets to improve their decisions and optimize their actions using improved data, insights and advanced analytics. 

D&AI under Digital & Technology as a capability is increasingly becoming a core enabler for Diageo, identifying and driving capabilities to improve innovation, performance, and differentiation across a wide range of functions and activities globally.

Within D&AI, the Data Science team focuses on identifying, creating, and deploying ML and AI solutions globally, including handling the strategic roadmap that will advance our capability maturity and supply to performance throughout the Diageo enterprise.

The Data Science team consists of authorities in advanced analytics, ML, statistics, DevOps, programming and strategic requirement identification and codification. The team works together with partners across the enterprise to ensure that our solutions are well designed, developed, deployed and adopted. We also work with external partners to accelerate our speed to market on programs.

We are seeking a highly motivated and expert Data Science professional who will serve as an evangelist to power data and insights to enable decisions at Diageo.

a)      Financial

The role will not have budget responsibility but will need to be financially aware of responsibilities and remain budget conscious and compliant.

d)      Purpose of Role 

·        Partner with Finance, HR, and Corporate Analytics teams to design, develop, and deploy AI, and ML solutions that enhance decision intelligence and operational efficiency across the enterprise.

·        Collaborate with senior partners to translate complex business challenges (workforce attrition, cost overruns, compliance risks, root-cause analysis for forecast variances, market estimations) into structured analytical frameworks with measurable outcomes.

·        Develop predictive and prescriptive models to drive smarter decision-making across:

o   Cash Flow Forecasting & Working Capital Optimization

o   Rewards, compensation, offers recommendation engine

o   Performance, Capability & Workforce Analytics

o   Insights from Surveys, Contracts, Policies & Other Unstructured Data (via NLP/GenAI).

o   Intelligent Agents for Forecast Variance Detection & Automated Root Cause Analysis

o   Enterprise KPI & Governance performance tracking

·        Communicate insights through compelling visualisations, storytelling, and clear business recommendations to drive measurable impact.

·        Stay abreast of innovative AI, GenAI, and Decision Intelligence advancements, proactively finding opportunities to embed innovation and automation across corporate workflows.

e)      Top 5-8 Accountabilities

·        Leverage structured and unstructured datasets (financial statements, contracts, IT logs, procurement data, employee engagement surveys, policy documents) to generate actionable insights that enhance operational efficiency, compliance oversight, and cost governance.

·        Build scalable analytics products & solutions to track corporate KPIs (attrition prediction, working capital, cash flows, compliance risk scores, IT incident resolution time, automation ROI)

·        Collaborate with HR, Finance, Legal, and IT leadership to evaluate workforce strategy, cost optimization levers, risk exposure, and digital transformation initiatives using advanced statistical modelling, predictive analytics, and experimentation frameworks.

·        Translate ambiguous corporate challenges into structured hypotheses, measurable metrics, and testable analytical models that drive objective decision-making.

·        Ensure enterprise-ready deployment of solutions through robust MLOps frameworks, model monitoring, explainability standards, data governance controls, and regulatory compliance adherence.

·        Design decision intelligence systems that transition corporate functions from reactive reporting to predictive, prescriptive, and continuously optimized operating models.

f)        Qualifications and Experience Required

·        3–7 years of relevant experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, with strong exposure to Finance, HR, or Corporate Analytics domains. Must include 1–2 years of hands-on experience in GenAI, NLP, or applied AI solutions.

·        Strong experience in advance analytic techniques including:

-        Predictive modelling (classification, regression, uplift modelling)

-        Time-series forecasting

-        Clustering & segmentation

-        Optimisation (linear programming, route optimisation)

-        Causal inference & experimentation (A/B testing, quasi-experimental methods)

·        Hands-on experience in Python, PySpark, SQL, Databricks, Azure (or similar cloud platforms).

·        Domain understanding in at least one corporate function (Finance, HR, Legal, IT, or Governance Analytics), with the ability to translate business context into analytical solutions.

·        Working knowledge of deep learning architectures and NLP frameworks is preferred.

·        Experience with CI/CD, MLOps, and model deployment standard methodologies.

·        Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to influence senior commercial partners.

·        Demonstrated ability to drive projects from problem definition through deployment and adoption.

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field.
