Travelers Insurance is looking to hire a Solicitor!
As a Qualified Lawyer, under limited supervision, you will provide a broad range of cost-effective, high quality legal services to stakeholders within Travelers.
Legal services may include: general legal advice, contract drafting and negotiation, management of litigation, resolution of disputes with or on behalf of insureds, management of regulatory relationships, support for a broad range of business initiatives, and recognition, analysis and response to emerging issues and trends. Compliance activities will include the timely completion of the annual Travelers Insurance DAC (TIDAC) Compliance Plan, which includes continuous monitoring, themed compliance reviews, and specific compliance projects.
You will need to engage and interact with our other local control functions and legal team to build and implement compliance controls, as well as work with our various business units and functions to identify regulatory risks.
Travelers currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.
What Will You Do?
- Provide legal, regulatory and compliance support to the business.
- Support the PCF-12 in coordinating responses to thematic reviews and responding to queries raised by the regulator.
- Collate and analyse management information, and assist in the preparation of compliance reports to Board, Board Committees, business unit management and internal risk committee.
- Identify developments in laws and regulations applicable to the businesses of Travelers Europe, assess relevance and ensure appropriate internal communication of requirements.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the TIDAC compliance reporting calendar, and ensure all regulatory returns are made by the required deadlines.
- Develop appropriate compliance training materials and deliver training, particularly to support internal control policies.
- Providing legal services to various functional areas within TIDAC (and the wider Travelers Europe business as required), including but not limited to Risk, Facilities management, Distribution, Finance, Marketing, Claims, IT, Operations and HR.
- Assisting where necessary with the resolution of legal issues, corporate initiatives, draft and comment on contracts / agreements and any other legal work related to TIDAC and the wider Travelers Europe as required.
- Providing general support to the Travelers enterprise working collaboratively with other members of the Travelers legal teams worldwide.
- Managing specific projects and tasks in collaboration with team members and others within Travelers Europe and the wider Travelers Group.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- In-house experience in insurance company or other financial services organisation.
- Wide breadth of industry and regulatory knowledge.
- Experience advising general insurance underwriters and/or claims personnel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with the business at all levels, including senior management.

- Unquestionable integrity.
- Awareness of legal developments affecting Travelers Europe.
What is a Must Have?
- Thorough knowledge of the Central Bank of Ireland and other regulatory authorities.
- Admitted to practice in Ireland.
