The Software Test Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of functional, system, use-case, performance, and regression test cases. This role also supports and drives test automation initiatives to ensure the highest quality standards for Verity’s software products.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain test cases and procedures for functional, system, use-case, performance, and regression testing.
Execute manual tests where appropriate and document results.
Maintain accurate documentation of test systems and environments.
Maximize test coverage for critical system features.
Collaborate with developers and product managers to ensure thorough test coverage for new and existing functionality.
Partner with SDET to build and maintain automated regression tests for RESTful web services and browser-based client functionality.
Validate transactional data against documented business rules.
Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including stand-ups, grooming, sizing, and sprint planning.
Log and document defects thoroughly in the tracking system.
Contribute to defining and clarifying business and product requirements.
Communicate progress, issues, and risks promptly.
Share responsibility for project success, including technical quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
Support continuous improvement of software development processes (e.g., version control, code reviews, unit testing, build/release automation).
Promote software QA best practices across the organization.
Ensure confidentiality of sensitive company and customer information, including HIPAA data.
Represent Verity Solutions’ values through positive interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Perform other duties and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of software testing experience, including writing test procedures from requirements.
Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Experience designing, writing, and executing test plans.
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools for transactional web applications, including RESTful web services and client-side functionality.
Programming proficiency in a high-level language; ability to learn new languages quickly is highly desirable.
Familiarity with cloud environments is a plus.
Ability to analyze and programmatically generate complex test data sets.
Experience with MongoDB and Golang is highly desirable.
Ability to work in a Linux-based environment.
Experience with software builds and automated integration testing.
Knowledge of web application security best practices and security testing is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated and effective with minimal supervision.
Ability to collaborate in a Scrum-based environment and adapt to changing requirements.
High level of curiosity, critical thinking, and eagerness to learn new concepts.
Healthcare industry experience is a major plus.
