Software Engineering Team Lead

The Software Engineering Team Lead will be a technical specialist, leader, and mentor within the embedded software discipline, while also serving as a cross-discipline leader for product development. 

 

This individual will lead a product development team and be responsible for driving and shaping the culture within that team. The role involves designing and developing embedded software for products across a wide range of industries , managing project success, and leading local continuous improvement activities.

Key Job Accountabilities: 

  • Serve as a technical specialist, leader, and mentor within the embedded software discipline.

  • Lead local continuous improvement activities associated with the engineering discipline and/or project-level tools or processes.

  • Ensure the technical success of programs by understanding customer needs, staffing with appropriate resources, and driving continuous improvement of tools and processes.

  • Exemplify and hold the team accountable to demonstrating the Plexus Core Values.

  • Expand and grow technical and leadership competencies by hiring diverse and high potential talent.

  • Focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning, and ensuring employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

  • Partner with the Site Leadership Team in areas of staffing, training, and development to ensure long-range goals and objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with other Design Center leaders globally to effectively and appropriately utilize all resources and provide expected levels of support.

Education/Experience Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.

  • Five (5) or more years of related experience is preferred.

  • Two (2) years of Project Management experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Design patterns and principles is preferred.

  • Strong understanding and working experience with object-oriented programming (OOP) is preferred. 

  • Highly proficient in modern C++. 

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and real-time operating systems (RTOS).

  • Ability to work cross functionally.
