The team
You will join Hitachi Digital Services’ Financial Services Delivery team, supporting a highly respected regional banking client based in Texas. This team delivers mission-critical, regulated enterprise platforms and works closely with client stakeholders to modernize core banking systems using Java, cloud, AI, and data engineering. You’ll lead a large, globally distributed engineering organization, collaborating across onshore and offshore teams to drive high-quality, secure, and compliant solutions.
The role
As a Java Technical Lead, you will provide end-to-end technical leadership for a large-scale banking engagement, owning architecture, delivery, and team performance. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will:
Lead and govern enterprise Java architecture and delivery, including microservices, APIs, cloud-native solutions, and data/AI integrations.
Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for a 30+ member engineering team, ensuring best practices, regulatory compliance, and strong delivery controls.
Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure systems tailored for financial services environments.
Partner with client stakeholders to translate business and regulatory requirements into clear technical roadmaps and execution plans.
Drive agile delivery, proactively managing risks, quality, security, and delivery timelines.
Mentor and develop onshore and offshore team members, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Leverage emerging technologies in AI, data, and cloud to continuously enhance client solutions.
Maintain robust technical documentation, enforce standards, and track delivery health using key metrics.
What you’ll bring
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in Java development, architecture, and enterprise solution delivery.
Proven leadership of large onshore/offshore teams (30+ engineers), ideally within banking or financial services.
Deep technical expertise in:
Java, Spring, Microservices
Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
API design and distributed systems
CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML and data engineering solutions into enterprise platforms.
Strong understanding of security, regulatory, and compliance requirements in financial services.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
Ability to work on-site in Dallas, five days per week.
Preferred:
Financial services or banking domain experience.
Exposure to event-driven architectures, low-latency systems, and modern security frameworks.
