Software Developer – Trading Systems

As a Software Developer, you'll play a critical role in building and maintaining one of Nasdaq’s core systems powering trading at the heart of Nasdaq Stockholm.

You'll thrive in this position if you're detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about working on complex systems where precision and reliability are paramount. This is a long-term opportunity to grow deep expertise in financial technology alongside a stable, experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in all phases of the lifecycle of software application development with an emphasis on architecture, design, quality, code reviews and implementation
  • Develop and maintain backend systems that process real-time equity trades with ultra-low latency requirements.
  • Write clean, well-tested code and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure system reliability and quality.
  • Collaborate with a small, focused team of developers to deliver enhancements to critical trading infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues using data analysis, scripting, and network diagnostics.
  • Contribute to system architecture decisions with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–3+ years of experience in software development, ideally in backend or systems programming.
  •  Proficiency in Java and object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
  • Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments
  • Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving in high-stakes environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of network protocols and ability to analyze network traffic (e.g., tcpdumps).
  • Background in financial services, capital markets, or fintech.

This position will be located in Stockholm and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
