Job Description:

The Software Engineer III – Power BI Developer is responsible for leading the creation of comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for various projects and platforms. This entails maintaining accountability for the technical design and delivery of solutions tailored to stakeholder requirements. You will develop and sustain technical solutions that align with engineering and architectural design principles, as well as business needs. The role demands technical expertise in efficiency, reliability, scalability, and security, with responsibilities that include planning, evaluation, design, operationalization, and support of solutions in accordance with enterprise and industry standards. You will also provide expert advice and leadership in system and application administration, installation, configuration, platform planning and design, integration, and release/deployment management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Dashboards & Reporting

  • Build and maintain executive dashboards with high‑quality, reliable data.
  • Resolve data issues proactively and deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Enable KPI and performance tracking through real‑time reporting.

Automation & Workflow Optimization

  • Automate and streamline workflows using Power BI and Power Automate.
  • Improve scalability, efficiency, and operational consistency across data processes.
  • Integrate automation into build, test, release, and configuration activities.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Own and resolve production issues affecting data and reporting.
  • Provide expertise in governance, metrics, and automation.
  • Enhance system design, performance, and cost‑effectiveness through ongoing improvements.
  • Support risk management, standards compliance, and service performance monitoring.

Operational & Customer Focus

  • Implement engineering and automation strategies across build, test, release, and configuration activities.
  • Design and document high‑quality solution designs; act as SME across the lifecycle.
  • Develop functional, technical, and UI designs aligned with architecture and performance standards.
  • Review technical deliverables, ensure quality, and identify redesign needs.
  • Define metrics and performance goals with technology partners; resolve data and application issues.
  • Assess business requirements, gather environmental needs, and ensure architectural alignment.
  • Advance engineering practices through collaboration, research, analytics, and problem‑solving.

Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply enterprise frameworks and ensure programs meet business needs, compliance requirements, and operational priorities.
  • Drive cost‑effective solutions and enhance stakeholder experience.
  • Perform code reviews and implement performance, risk, and governance remediation.
  • Maintain strong risk and control processes aligned with organizational appetite.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate or technical degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (graduate degree an asset).
  • 5–7 years’ experience in data analytics, performance insights, or business intelligence roles.
  • Power BI & Data Modeling: Advanced DAX, Power Query (M), semantic modeling, interactive visualizations, drill‑through, and data storytelling.
  • Automation: Power Automate for workflows, data refreshes, and integrated business processes.
  • Programming & Scripting: Python (visualization, ML, automation), SQL (ETL), with beneficial experience in JavaScript, C#, or PowerShell.
  • Data Integration: Connecting to SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, CSV, and cloud sources; strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance.
  • ServiceNow (Asset): Incident, Change, Problem modules, Performance Analytics, and operational dashboards.
