Digicert

Software Development Manager

tbd Full Time

Who we are

We're a leading, global security authority that's disrupting our own category.  Our encryption is trusted by the major ecommerce brands, the world's largest companies, the major cloud providers, entire country financial systems, entire internets of things and even down to the little things like surgically embedded pacemakers.  We help companies put trust - an abstract idea - to work. That's digital trust for the real world.

Job summary

We’re building DigiCert’s next-generation AI Security & Trust Infrastructure — a cloud-native platform that extends digital trust to AI models, agents, and software ecosystems.

As a hands-on Software Development Manager (SDM), you’ll lead a small, highperformance team of developers responsible for designing, building, and operating distributed systems in hybrid cloud environments. You will combine startup-level speed with enterprise-grade reliability — delivering production services in weeks, not months. You will lead by example: writing code, reviewing architecture, and guiding design decisions. This is a founding technical leadership role shaping a new product line that defines DigiCert’s trust fabric for AI and beyond.

What you will do

  • Lead design, development, and delivery of distributed, AWS-native microservices.
  • Define architecture, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Drive automation, CI/CD, and observability practices across all services.
  • Build for security, scalability, and compliance from day one.
  • Mentor engineers to ship fast, safe, and production-ready code.
  • Partner with Product and Security to align roadmap and technical direction.
  • Deliver MVPs within 30 days; production releases within 90 days.
  • Hire, grow, and retain top engineering talent.
  • Own system uptime, on-call health, and incident response quality.

What you will have

  • 5+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years in hands-on technical leadership or management.
  • Proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in AWS.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and data consistency models.
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust (optional).
  • Experience implementing CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CDK), and observability pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security and trust frameworks (PKI, TLS, DNSSEC, DANE) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, coach engineers, and deliver results in fast-paced environments. Excellent communication and system design documentation skills.

Nice to have

  • Move fast, build right.
  • Own what you ship.
  • Automate relentlessly.
  • Security and observability by default.
  • AI-accelerated, human-guided development.

Benefits

  • Generous time off policies
  • Top shelf benefits
  • Education, wellness and lifestyle support
