This role is a hybrid position
Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office locations.
As a member of the Sonos Cloud Engineering space, your role will directly contribute to the advancement of Sonos’ cloud technology stack, and the delivery of incredible new features and product offerings that will delight our customers. If that sounds energizing to you, we’d like to talk.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop cloud-based software solutions that are directly used by our customers’ systems, as well as both Sonos-internal and our partner services and systems.
Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle including planning, requirements, development, and unit testing.
Work closely with your teammates and other cross-functional teams in an agile development environment, assist work definition and scoping in user stories, participate in code and design reviews.
Support Production services in a DevOps environment, including monitoring system health, deploying software and services, and participating in on-call rotation and incident handling.
Support service initiatives that adhere to best practices for security, scalability, cost, and overall performance.
Create automated tests and deployment processes that work with our continuous integration tools.
Partner with cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment.
What You’ll Need
Basic Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
1+ years of experience working with server-side development languages and frameworks, such as JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js) or Java (SpringBoot).
Experience developing and deploying software with at least one public cloud stack (ex. AWS, GCP, Azure, etc…).
Exposure to working with a software team that utilizes agile methodologies.
Object-oriented design and coding skills (Node.JS/Java preferred) with knowledge of JSON and API development.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, challenge yourself, ask questions, and learn from failure.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing software that leverages common AWS components (ex. ElasticCache, RDS, EC2, Lambda, cloud networking, etc…).
Ability and experience to leverage data and metrics to define service health and performance and exposure to toolstacks in this space.
Hands-on experience developing and deploying services that leverage containers and Kubernetes.
Prior project experience that involves one or more of the following: connected devices at scale, software authentication and authorization, REST-based web services, data modeling in SQL and NoSQL, search engines, datapipelines.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:
$88,000 and $109,800The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
