Position Overview

Embark on an enriching journey with Autodesk as a Software Architect, stepping into a position important to the transformation and modernization of our mission-critical Access Administration and Insights platform. We are at the forefront of the company's Access Administration needs and have tremendous visibility and impact across all of Autodesk. The platform is critical to enable customers to have access to Autodesk Products and their Product Data

In this role, you will influence the trajectory of our software systems. You will focus on improving the resiliency and scalability of the platform. You will ensure alignment with the latest industry best practices. In this capacity, you'll mentor a geographically distributed development team, elevating the standards of engineering excellence across the board. Join us in shaping the future of software architecture at Autodesk. This is an individual contributor role.

This job will be Hybrid with occasional onsite workshops/meetings. Position may require occasional travel outside Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain an understanding of the current system's architecture and functionality

  • Develop a strategic direction for Admin Access and Insights platform and ensure that the tactical direction is to support the larger strategy

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable software solutions

  • Translate complex technical architectures into clear, business-focused narratives for all stake-holders, balancing technical accuracy with appropriate level of detail for decision-making

  • Drive broad consensus and agreement across teams and GEOs

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a geographically distributed development team, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing

  • Ensure the security, performance, and reliability of the platform

  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, incorporating them into the platform's architecture by conducting code and architecture reviews

  • Raise the bar within the team and across the organization

  • Partner with Product Management and Business leaders regarding future platform and technology issues and the effect of decisions on all projects

  • Create formal networks with industry and cross organizational leadership communities to develop standards, and foster platform growth

  • Work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires and evaluation of intangibles

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems

  • Have designed and implemented complex software systems

  • Broad knowledge of AWS, server programming, databases, and cloud architectures

  • Experience working with container frameworks (Docker) and container orchestration tools (AWS ECS, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with Microservices, API architecture and management

  • Work experience in a global and distributed environment

  • Ability to demonstrate clear communications about your architectural designs, decisions and rationale for your design direction

  • Technology stack: Java/Spring, AWS/Containers, Javascript, TypeScript, Node.js

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $153,600 and $211,200. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
