Social Media Student Assistant

Berklee College of Music - Boston Part time

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Digital Engagement for Alumni Affairs, the Social Media Student Assistant will support the development of film projects, social media posts, and general alumni engagement. The ideal candidate is an outgoing, people-person who is not afraid to step in front of the camera if needed. General knowledge of camera operation, audio recording, and/or lighting setups are a plus.

This opportunity is open to anyone interested in learning more about video production and social media marketing. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to those with demo material. Please respond with your level of experience, areas of interest, and links to any relevant work. 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor, post, and engage the alumni audience across all Alumni Affairs social media channels

  • Pre-production outreach and research, including cold calls and emails

  • Coordination of projects in production

  • Assist with gear and lighting setup and breakdown

  • Support the general operation of Alumni Affairs when needed

Knowledge and Skills Desired: 

  • Strong written & verbal communication

  • Excellent people skills

  • Good organization skills

  • Strong sense of responsibility

  • Basic camera operation and video production equipment knowledge and skills

  • Performing experience is a plus

  • Canva experience is a plus

Hourly Rate: Student Worker 2, $16.48/hour
