Hendrick Motorsports, a leader in the auto racing industry, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Social Media Intern to join the Creative Services team within the Marketing Department for a full-time, one-year postgraduate opportunity based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Position Summary:
This role is designed for a recent graduate with demonstrated experience in social media and digital content who is looking to begin a career in professional sports marketing. Reporting to the Creative Content Manager, this position will support the day-to-day execution of the organization’s social media platforms, with primary responsibility for publishing, monitoring and performance reporting across channels, while also contributing to content creation across photo, video and graphic formats.
Success in this role requires a strong collaborator who thrives in a team-oriented
environment. The Social Media Intern will work closely with designers, video producers, content creators and marketing teammates to ensure content is aligned, timely and reflective of Hendrick Motorsports’ championship standard. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, takes constructive feedback well and contributes positively to a fast-paced, high-performance team.
This is a hands-on, full-time role offering meaningful experience within one of the most successful organizations in professional sports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Social Media Platform Management
- Publish and schedule content across Hendrick Motorsports’ social media platforms in alignment with the approved content calendar.
- Ensure all posts meet established brand standards for tone, voice and accuracy.
- Monitor social media channels for engagement, comments and direct messages and route or escalate items appropriately.
- Support real-time posting during race weekends, events and major announcements.
- Maintain organized publishing workflows and asset management processes.
Reporting & Analytics:
- Compile weekly and monthly social media performance reports.
- Track audience growth, engagement and content performance metrics.
- Identify trends and provide insights to improve performance and engagement.
- Maintain organized reporting dashboards and documentation.
Content Creation Support:
- Capture and produce social-first content including photography and short-form video.
- Assist with video editing and preparation for digital distribution.
- Support graphic design needs using approved templates and brand standards.
- Contribute ideas that support campaign priorities and organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required) in communications, marketing, journalism or digital media.
- Demonstrated experience managing social media platforms for a brand, organization or comparable entity.
- Proven ability to create engaging social-first content including photography, short form video or graphic design.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong command of brand voice and tone.
- Strong working knowledge of major social media platforms including Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok.
- Experience using creative tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or similar platforms.
- Working understanding of social media analytics and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments and teams.
- Ability and willingness to work weekends during the NASCAR season including race weekends and key events.
