Location: Across ScottishPower sites in Scotland (travel required within the Central Belt & South of Scotland)
Salary: Up to £50,000. Overtime opportunities over 37 hours (subject to project requirements) (Saturday x1.5 hrs, Sunday x2 hrs).  Business miles paid at £0.45/m 10,000 miles £0.25/m above 10,000 miles
Contract: Permanent | Full-Time
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (flexibility required)

We are seeking highly skilled Site Supervisors across the following disciplines

  • Electrical (x2)
  • Civils (x2)
  • Overhead Line (x1)

You will support the delivery of major Transmission Strategic Projects works across Scotland, ensuring construction activities on substations, civil works, underground cable routes and overhead lines are delivered safely, to programme and to the highest technical and quality standards

As the on-site representative for the business, you will interface daily with contractors, engineering teams and operational stakeholders—driving safe execution, compliance and successful project outcomes.

What you’ll be doing

Site Supervision & Delivery

  • Oversee daily site activities across Electrical, Civil and OHL disciplines
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications and programme
  • Monitor contractor performance, progress and completed works for commercial assessments
  • Support adherence to CDM 2015, statutory duties and transmission safety rules

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion and embed a proactive site safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Scottish Power Processes & Procedures
    • Health & Safety at Work Act
    • CDM Regulations 2015
    • GS6 & HSG47
    • Temporary Works procedures
    • Transmission safety documentation & permit systems
  • Support briefings, toolbox talks, audits and safety checks

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Interpret “Valid for Construction” drawings, specs and method statements
  • Implement and manage ITPs, witness points and hold points
  • Identify and close out defects and non-conformances
  • Provide technical input during constructability reviews

Planning & Reporting

  • Track and report progress, risks and issues
  • Maintain accurate daily site records, NCR logs and photo evidence
  • Coordinate outages, switching windows and critical path activities

Stakeholder & Interface Management

  • Act as the on-site representative for Project and Construction Teams
  • Engage effectively with contractors, landowners, communities and environmental bodies
  • Ensure works comply with environmental licences and ecological requirements

What You Will Bring

  • A strong foundation in engineering and construction practices, with a clear understanding of site safety standards and full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations and duty holder responsibilities.
  • Proven experience in site supervision or construction on complex infrastructure or utilities projects.
  • Solid project planning capability, including tracking progress against programme milestones, applying structured inspection and test plans (ITPs), and maintaining high standards of quality assurance and environmental compliance.
  • Transferable experience from street works, highways, utilities, or LV installations, with familiarity in GS6, HSG47, Temporary Works, and the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA).
  • Ability to interpret and work confidently from “Valid for Construction” drawings, technical specifications, and the full suite of inspection and testing regimes associated with the works.
  • Strong digital competency, including the effective use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for planning, reporting, and documentation, along with collaborative tools such as Microsoft Teams for digital communication and coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to track site progress, articulate issues clearly, and professionally represent the project team to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing, and planning skills, supporting effective decision making, contractor management, and stakeholder engagement throughout project delivery.

Desirable Experience

  • Substation civil or electrical construction
  • OHL tower foundations, erection, stringing or refurbishment
  • Underground cable ducting, HDD, joint bays or cable installation
  • Environmental compliance on large projects
  • Temporary Works coordination or awareness
  • Transmission operational safety and permit experience
