Job description:

The Shift Supervisor, Flotation will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the flotation circuit to ensure efficient mineral recovery and production targets are met. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a dynamic mining environment.

Job Responsibilities

* Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of operators and technicians within the flotation plant during assigned shifts.
* Monitor and control the flotation process parameters, including reagent additions, pulp density, and froth characteristics, to achieve optimal recovery and concentrate grade.
* Implement and enforce safety procedures and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
* Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment and infrastructure, identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent downtime.
* Utilize CMMS (ERP) systems for work order generation, equipment history tracking, and inventory management.
* Apply Failure Analysis Techniques (e.g., Root Cause Analysis) to identify and resolve operational and equipment-related problems efficiently.
* Develop and implement Optimization Strategies to improve flotation performance, reduce costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
* Conduct Risk Assessments for operational tasks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize hazards.
* Effectively communicate operational status, challenges, and recommendations to management and cross-functional teams using clear Technical Communication.
* Analyze operational data, including Condition Monitoring reports, to identify trends and make data-driven Decision Making.
* Manage and allocate resources effectively, including personnel and materials, to meet production demands.
* Prepare and maintain accurate shift reports, production logs, and other relevant documentation using Microsoft Office Suite.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance strategies for flotation equipment.
* Demonstrate strong Adaptability to changing operational conditions and priorities.
* Utilize Analytical Thinking to diagnose and resolve complex operational issues.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive Problem Solving within the team.

Experience & Qualifications

* A diploma or degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field is preferred.
* Minimum of 6 years of experience in flotation plant operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within the mining industry.
* Proven Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and manage a diverse team.
* Demonstrated proficiency in Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving.
* Strong understanding of flotation chemistry and process control.
* Experience with CMMS (ERP) systems is essential.
* Familiarity with Failure Analysis Techniques (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, FMEA).
* Ability to conduct Risk Assessments and implement effective control measures.
* Excellent Communication and Technical Communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of Optimization Strategies and Reliability Centered Maintenance principles.
* Ability to make sound Decision Making under pressure.
* Experience with Condition Monitoring systems and their application.
* Strong Adaptability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of Fleet Management principles in a mining context is a plus.
