Shift Engineer
Job Description Summary
The Shift Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all technical systems during assigned shifts. This includes promptly addressing technical issues, carrying out routine inspections, coordinating with relevant teams for repairs or adjustments, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The role also involves accurate reporting of shift activities, supporting planned maintenance schedules, and liaising with both internal departments and external contractors to maintain continuous and reliable operations.

Internal Relationships: R&M Manager, Site Engineers and Supervisors, Operations & Maintenance Teams, Procurement Department, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Team, Senior Management
External Relationships: Clients / Client Representatives, Contractors and Subcontractors, Vendors and Suppliers
Operation & Maintenance of Residential Infrastructure
- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical systems, DG sets, water pumps, STP/WTP, HVAC, lifts, fire-fighting systems, and other building services to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Safety, Statutory & Compliance
- Ensure all equipment complies with statutory norms (fire safety, electrical safety, pollution control, lift inspection, etc.). Maintain valid certifications and coordinate periodic inspections with authorities.
Complaint Resolution & Resident Satisfaction
- Ensure timely response and closure of resident technical complaints logged via portals or helpdesk. Monitor turnaround time and maintain satisfaction levels.
Vendor & AMC Management
- Manage service contracts, AMCs, and vendor performance. Verify service quality, approve work completion, and ensure timely renewals.
Energy & Resource Management
- Monitor and optimize consumption of electricity, water, and other utilities. Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainability measures.
Budget & Cost Control
- Prepare the annual maintenance budget, track expenses, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Team Leadership & Training
- Lead the site technical team, allocate duties, and provide training on safety, operations, and new technology.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain asset registers, maintenance schedules, complaint trackers, breakdown reports, and compliance records. Submit periodic Daily, MIS, MMR reports to management.
Other
- Proactively review workplace systems / processes to innovate and continuously improve the business performance and workplace experience
- Performs other duties as requested by your direct manager
- Occasional requirement to work extended hours during peak times or to assist with major functions/events
- Development of operational standards / playbooks / operating manuals for all aspects of the business
