Position Summary

The Service Operations Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all service commissioning and operational activities for Power System Business (PSB) solutions—primarily for data centre (DC) power generation projects across Asia.

This role ensures that commissioning activities are delivered seamlessly, safely, on schedule, and within budget while supporting customer satisfaction, service quality, and long-term service relationships. You will work closely with customers, general contractors, service partners, and internal teams to drive operational excellence and strengthen our aftermarket presence.


What you will be doing:

Commissioning & Service Operations Management

  • Lead, manage, and coordinate all service commissioning activities for PSB / DC projects across Asia.
  • Ensure all commissioning work is executed according to approved timelines, budget, safety standards, and technical requirements.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, and progress tracking dashboards.
  • Provide technical oversight during commissioning to resolve issues, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with specifications.

Stakeholder & Contractor Coordination

  • Liaise proactively with general contractors, service partners, and sub-contractors to arrange manpower, tools, documentation, access clearance, and commissioning requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure work meets contractual, safety, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, service, and project management teams to ensure alignment on commissioning activities and project milestones.

Customer Program & Relationship Management

  • Act as the operational focal point for customers during the commissioning phase.
  • Manage customer expectations, provide status updates, and resolve escalations promptly.
  • Conduct review meetings with customers to track readiness, progress, and completion.
  • Strengthen long-term customer partnerships through consistent, reliable operational support.

Aftermarket & Service Support

  • Collaborate with service sales and technical teams to support service solutions, repair proposals, and post-commissioning service offerings.
  • Prepare and review quotations for service activities, repairs, and project-specific service requirements.
  • Support warranty, troubleshooting, and service quality improvement activities as needed.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance commissioning efficiency and service delivery.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation, test records, reports, and approvals are properly completed and submitted.
  • Contribute to standardization of commissioning practices and knowledge sharing across the regional service organization.

Position requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Power Systems) or an equivalent technical discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in service operations, commissioning, project execution, or technical support in power generation, energy systems, or industrial engineering sectors.
  • Hands-on experience with commissioning diesel/gas generator sets, UPS, or related power systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience in data centre infrastructure projects is an advantage.
  • Proven track record managing contractors, technical teams, and customer-facing project workflows.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of power generation systems, commissioning workflows, and service operations.
  • Excellent planning, coordination, and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple commissioning streams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and customer engagement abilities.
  • High attention to detail with a structured and problem-solving mindset.
  • Able to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic project environments.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for project and service support.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience with mtu engines or power generation systems.
  • Knowledge in hybrid, electrified, or digitalized power solutions.
  • WSQ/NEBOSH safety certifications or equivalent.
