The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she have both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them, and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new modules/courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too. Successful candidates will be expected to have a growth mind-set, and be adaptable to the ever-changing industry landscape, both in the domain industry as well as the education sector. He/she is also expected to demonstrate resourcefulness and innovative with forward-looking initiatives as well as good communication skills.
The appointee must be competent to teach in Banking and Finance related modules and in at least two or more of the following areas:
• Automation/Analytics/Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Asset & Portfolio Management
• Credit Risk Management
• Financial Technology (FinTech)
• Financial Management / Corporate Finance
• International Trade Finance
• Financial Regulations & Compliance
• Treasury & Financial Derivatives
• Technical Analysis
[What you will be working on]
Responsibilities:
- Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for both Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) students.
- Keep abreast of current developments and trends in the areas mentioned above to develop and maintain relevant and up-to-date teaching curriculum. This includes review of existing curriculum with a view to making recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students’ performance, learning & employability.
- Enhance students’ learning through other activities such as training students for competitions, supervising projects, and internships, and leading them on overseas learning programme/community service.
- Participate in consultancy projects with industry partners to support the transformation of the industry.
- Collaborate with other staff as well as industry to offer meaningful applied industry projects and consultancy projects.
- Support SkillsFuture initiatives in the implementation of Enhanced Internship Programmes and CET programmes.
- Handle administrative work relating to teaching.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
- Strong passion in mentoring students and show genuine concern for their development.
- A strong team player with good communication skills.
- Proven ability to engage with the industry on Banking/Finance/Analytics/Fintech consultancy projects.
- Relevant qualifications in Banking/Finance/Analytics/IT or equivalent.
- Prior experience in managing teams an added advantage.
Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
