A Day in the Life

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the SVP Testing Division is responsible for driving growth, profitability, and market share of our field-testing services business with approximately 1,000 employees in numerous locations across the United States and Canada. This position has two direct reports: the SVP, Air Emissions and the SVP, Stack. The services include stack and ambient air testing, leak detection and repair through traditional and optical gas imaging. This position is remote with regular travel to locations across the United States and Canada. Total direct compensation, including base salary, performance bonus and equity, is expected to exceed $500,000.

To thrive in this role, you will be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Promote, retain, and develop a high-performing team; build successorship and foster a unified culture grounded in ownership, collaboration, inclusion, and safety.

  • Own full P&L responsibility for the Testing Segment, including revenue, EBITDA, and margin expansion, as well as DSO management and creating annual operating plans, forecasts, and capital prioritization.

  • Demonstrated financial expertise, including forecasting, budgeting, and market pricing strategy; uses data and financial insights to drive disciplined decision-making and operational rigor.

  • Drive operating leverage and improve/maintain division profitability through disciplined cost and margin management.

  • Strengthening executive-level client relationships, strategic account management, accelerating organic growth through disciplined market prioritization and integrated portfolio offerings.

  • Strengthen utilization, backlog visibility, pricing rigor, and project-level profitability.

  • Drive consistent margin measurement methodologies across service lines and regions.

  • Ensure robust system adoption and data integrity across enterprise platforms including Workday, Salesforce, financial reporting, and project management tools.

  • Clarify decision rights and governance structures to enable scalable, repeatable performance.

  • Direct due diligence and integration for acquisitions

  • Operate effectively within our shared services and matrixed structure by partnering closely with corporate/function leaders (Finance, HR, Legal, Safety, Sales, and Marketing) to achieve division objectives, cross-portfolio growth initiatives, and integrated solutions.

  • Ensure effective execution within our enterprise operating model.

Your Expertise and Skills

  • 20 years of leadership experience in environmental testing services

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable engineering field or related scientific field

  • Proven success leading a $200M+ multi-geographical environmental testing business with large and dispersed teams.

  • Hands-on experience in field testing, including stack, ambient, and LDAR as a single practice.  

  • Successful history with integrating acquisitions---operationally, culturally to enable growth.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively within a matrixed structure, alongside corporate shared-service functions, including sales and marketing.

  • Accomplished in leading and operating within a publicly traded company.

  • Experienced in managing, tracking, and reporting key KPIs.

  • Proven success developing high-performing teams and building successorship.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and operational discipline.

  • High integrity, collaborative, inclusive and unwavering commitment to safety

  • Strong communicator – written, verbal and non-verbal. Listens first

  • Experience operating across diverse regulatory environments, technical disciplines, client sectors, and geographies, and aligning global standards with strong local execution.

  • Ability to build an engaging culture anchored on innovation, achievement and professionalism, aligned to mission of advancing progress while protecting the planet.
