Senior Vice President, Solutions & Innovation (5220)

SMX is seeking a mission-focused Senior Vice President (SVP) of ESS Solutions & Innovation to lead the strategic direction, growth, and continuous innovation of our Enterprise Solutions & Services business unit. This is a leadership role responsible for driving hyper-growth across our enterprise application, cloud, and digital transformation portfolio while expanding SMX's solution suite for DoD, Intelligence Community, Federal Civilian, and State & Local customers.

The SVP of ESS Solutions & Innovation serves as the senior leader responsible for aligning technology solutions with mission outcomes, building and scaling high-performing products and solutions, and enabling client service delivery to our implementation staff and customers. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of revenue growth, deep relationships across the regulated industries ecosystem, and the strategic acumen to envision and launch new solution capabilities that address evolving customer needs and leverage emerging technologies.

Preferred location: DC Metro or Northern Virginia. This is a Hybrid role. Travel expectations are approximately 30% to visit customers, industry partners, and SMX offices for collaboration on key initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive technology and solutions roadmap spanning enterprise applications (SAP, Oracle, ERP), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), cybersecurity, data analytics, and emerging technologies (AI, Quantum).
  • Establish and drive product management best practices, including KPI tracking, prioritization frameworks, and data-informed decision-making to improve speed, performance, and ROI.
  • Manage diverse technical skilled resources and utilization to enable various objectives (e.g. technical solutions for Growth/BD activities, customer delivery as Solution Architects, product development enablement,, etc.
  • Remain current on industry trends; identify, evaluate, and responsibly adopt emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, automation) to expand SMX's competitive differentiation and solution portfolio.
  • Lead end-to-end product and solution strategy and lifecycle management of SMX ESS products/solutions, aligning innovation with business goals and customer mission needs
  • Partner with the Executive and Senior leadership teams to identify, evaluate, and implement technology solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness and drive revenue growth.
  • Lead growth strategy, business planning, and alliances to fuel hyper-growth across the ESS portfolio.
  • Collaborate with the Executive leadership to develop and monitor division and product budgets, identify strategies to reduce costs, and maintain fiscal health across the business unit.
  • Identify and support new revenue opportunities, including strategic partnerships, licensing, and value-added solution features tailored to federal and regulated industry customers.
  • Build scalable team structures, career paths, and succession plans to ensure long-term organizational resilience and talent retention.
  • Recruit and retain top engineering, architecture, and QA talent, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and mission focus.
  • Cultivate and manage C-suite and senior executive relationships across Federal agencies, DoD components, and Intelligence Community customers to identify and develop transformational solutions.
  • Serve as an executive technical leader in customer meetings, proposal reviews, oral presentations, and industry events, demonstrating compelling value propositions on architecture, security, and data sovereignty.
  • Grow strategic alliances with technology partners (SAP, Oracle, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google, C3.ai, Palantir, MuleSoft, UIPath and others).
  • Travel to trade conferences and government acquisition events to represent SMX in front of industry partners, customers, and government officials.
  • Ensure all ESS technology initiatives adhere to security frameworks (NIST, CIS), regulatory requirements, and cloud governance best practices.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively resolve barriers to execution across the ESS portfolio.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on project status, risks, outcomes, and strategic recommendations to support informed decision-making.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Eligible required.
  • MBA or advanced degree required
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise technology services, consulting, or solutions delivery for regulated industries (Federal Government, DoD, Intelligence Community).
  • Minimum 10+ years in a senior leadership role (VP level or above) with direct P&L responsibilities
  • 15+ years of experience in ERP transactional applications modernizations (e.g. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, and related platforms)
  • Full lifecycle ERP modernization experience from multiple ERP modernization implementations across all phases (e.g. portfolio analysis through to end-user delivery and sustainment).
  • Program Management experience managing a customer delivery team of 25+ FTEs or teams of teams greater than 25 FTEs
  • 10+ years of experience with Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Lake platforms and emerging technologies including AI and machine learning.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing solutions for US Federal Financials business processes and integration points with non-financial business events
  • Previous commercial experience within financial compliance services (e.g. Accounting, Auditing, GRC, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, integration technologies (APIs, middleware, ETL), and DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google) across all classification domains
  • Proficiency in Federal information assurance and compliance frameworks (e.g. NIST, FedRAMP/DoD IL 2–6, ITAR, etc.)
  • Experience building and managing strategic alliances with major technology vendors (e.g. SAP/Oracle, AWS, Microsoft, Palantir).
  • Exceptional ability to assess enterprise technology needs, build compelling business cases, and guide executive stakeholders through complex solution decisions.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and executive briefing skills with ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desired Experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) with deep federal financial management expertise.
  • Experience with cloud migrations for Federal Government customers
  • Established network of C-suite relationships across DoD, IC, and Federal Civilian agencies and major technology partners.

The proposed salary for this position is:
$193,000$350,000 USD
