POSITION OVERVIEW:
The SVP of Merchandising is a senior leader responsible for setting and executing the merchandising strategy for the Inspired Luxury segment to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and brand differentiation across all channels. This role owns product strategy, assortment architecture, pricing, inventory optimization, and vendor partnerships while ensuring a compelling, customer‑centric experience aligned with the company’s brand promise.
The SVP leads large, cross‑functional teams and partners closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, Stores, E‑commerce, Planning, and Finance to deliver financial and strategic results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Merchandising Strategy & Leadership
Define and execute the long‑term merchandising vision aligned with company strategy and customer insights
Lead category strategies, assortment architecture, and lifecycle management across channels
Translate consumer trends, competitive intelligence, and data insights into actionable strategies
Serve as a key member of the leadership team, influencing enterprise decisions
Product & Assortment Management
Own end‑to‑end product strategy including assortment planning, line architecture, launches, and exits
Ensure assortments reflect customer needs, brand positioning, and financial objectives
Balance innovation with core product performance to optimize sales and margin
Oversee seasonal and evergreen assortment reviews
Financial Performance & Planning
Accountable for top‑line sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, and GMROI
Partner with Merchandise Planning and Finance on forecasts, budgets, and open‑to‑buy
Drive disciplined inventory management to minimize markdowns and obsolescence
Lead pricing, promotion, and markdown strategies
Vendor & Sourcing Leadership
Build and maintain strategic vendor and supplier partnerships
Lead negotiations to optimize cost, quality, speed‑to‑market, and exclusivity
Partner with Supply Chain to improve lead times, flow, and availability
Omnichannel Execution
Ensure seamless, customer‑first assortments across stores, digital, and marketplace channels
Collaborate with Digital and Stores teams to optimize channel‑specific strategies
Leverage data and AI‑enabled tools to enhance demand forecasting and personalization
People & Organizational Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop high‑performing merchandising leadership teams
Build a strong succession pipeline and promote a culture of accountability and innovation
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the merchandising organization
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
15+ years of progressive merchandising experience in retail or consumer goods
7+ years in a senior leadership role managing large teams and complex assortments
Proven success leading omnichannel merchandising organizations
Experience in data‑driven, high‑volume, or specialty retail environments preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strategic thinker with strong commercial and financial acumen
Deep understanding of consumer behavior and trend forecasting
Executive presence with the ability to influence at the Board and C‑suite level
Strong analytical capabilities; comfort with AI‑enabled merchandising tools
Exceptional leadership, communication, and change‑management skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
MBA or advanced degree preferred
