Senior Verification Engineer - ATM

The role

As part of our Civil group, the Senior Verification Engineer - ATM is responsible for leading the development, planning and execution of the Verification and Validation (V&V) program for allocated Air Traffic Management (ATM) projects. This includes development of Test Acceptance Procedures, maintenance of the Requirements Verification Matrix (RVM) and ongoing management of the test program to support requirements sell-off to the customer.

The Senior Verification Engineer will be the interface between Saab’s ATM project V&V program and the customer’s test lead and will be responsible for ensuring that all test resources and plans are scheduled to enable the project objectives to be achieved at the required standard in a timely manner.

Success in this role requires a highly motivated individual who demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving skills and has a keen interest in technical and complex software systems, preferably within the ATM domain.

Further, the successful candidate will:

• Provide definition of the testing and verification aspects of the project Work Breakdown Structure and contribute to responsibility assignments.
• Provide technical and engineering leadership, including the identification, monitoring and mitigation of technical risks associated with the verification activities.
• Manage and coordinate all aspects of the verification activities, particularly the testing program, including development of detailed V&V schedule, identification of equipment and personnel requirements, and resolving verification issues and problems.
• Develop and maintain the project’s RVM, including the management of test results and supporting Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
• Develop subsystem Test Acceptance Procedures and test reports, and identify/review OEM test evidence for suitability for use by the project.
• Ensure the system baselines are sufficiently mature to enter any associated formal testing activity.
• Support the Project Engineering Manager in the preparation and conduct of verification reviews/audits (e.g. Test Readiness Review, Functional Configuration Audit/Physical Configuration Audit).
• Develop and review Saab’s verification plans and reports.
• Conduct impact analysis / change management resulting from the V&V program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Program Engineering Manager.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your education, skills and experience will include:

• Relevant engineering/computer science degree with suitable recent experience.
• Eligible for chartered engineering status and state engineering registration (Queensland).
• Minimum of 8-10 Years’ experience of V&V integration of software systems, using standard s/w tools and scripting (including Bash for Linux and XML).
• 5+ years of experience in the Air Traffic Management domain (Desired).
• Demonstrated planning and scheduling skills.
• Demonstrated communication skills both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to deal with uncertainty and adapt to changing priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to baseline level or have the ability to gain one.
