Your Next Career Opportunity – Senior Utilities Coordinator, International
The primary function of this position is to provide administrative support to the Business Operations team and assist with the coordination and execution of operations & project deliverables. This position is also responsible for assisting and managing projects to secure power to our sites (Base transceiver stations) with various external parties who manage power. To align internally and ensure all databases have the correct information regarding power supply, which shall be aligned to finance and payments to our landlords and/or tenants. To have a basic and clear understanding of power to sites and to have an energetic flow to resolve problems associated with complicated utility organizations. To ensure that all SBA’s towers have sufficient power to supply to the respective tenants and to assist with ensuring accurate billing thereon.
What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities
- Manage utilities by coordinating, organizing, disseminating, and processing non-payments from carriers and by reviewing the meter reading database to troubleshoot errors in reporting. Report progress and findings to management as needed.
- Enter site and tenant data into the Property Management Database, as well as upload budgets and job revisions into the internal financial system.
- Provide customer service by resolving questions and/or problems, both individually and with the assistance of other team members.
- Work with utility companies and internal departments to determine corrective billing, and reaching out to utility management companies to assist with potentially upgrading/downgrading current power supplies to our towers
- Work cross-functionally with other team members and groups within the organization.
- Track the progress of assigned deliverables and produce update reports for the management team.
- Resolve inquiries from external partners on how to compute power consumption and bill carriers as it relates to the consumption of SBA sites.
- Review new SBA acquisitions from the Mergers & Acquisition Team to determine if the previous tower owner's meters need to be transferred to SBA, as well as identify if utility expenses should be passed on to new carriers.
- Contacting utility companies by phone, or email to set up new utility accounts, transfer existing carrier meters to SBA, disconnect of service, meter or miscellaneous equipment removal, manage power outages based on billing issues, weather-related issues, damaged equipment, technical issues or tower maintenance.
- Manually prepare applications for new services or transfers that cannot be done by phone, or email.
- Searching for and providing adequate SBA legal documentation to apply for new power supplies and or upgrade existing power supplies on behalf of SBA that required legal documentation proving that SBA owns the tower and/or owns or leases the land where the utility meter will be housed along with Authorized Signatory documentation.
- Providing the operations and finance with site, account, and potential billing details for onboarding purposes
- Manage site-related calls from the utility company's customer service representatives or technical engineer team related to site inquiries such as site directions, equipment details, or equipment location at the site.
- Scheduling site walk-throughs between RSM and the utility technical engineering team, if applicable.
- Follow-up calls and/or emails to utility companies related to pending meter installations, prolonged power outages, and other miscellaneous inquiries.
- Work with A RSMs to update Mobile Manager/Tenant Summary details related to utility meter numbers and utility company information, as well as ensure that PMDB is up to date with the exact details.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
What You'll Need - Qualifications and Requirements
- Project Management: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business, or related field; certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 preferred
- Financial/Data Analyst: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or related field
- Electrical Power Analyst: Background in electrical engineering or power systems preferred
- Utility Management Experience: Highly desirable
- Electrical Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding advantageous
- Telecommunications (Electrical Focus): Experience in telecom with electrical systems desirable
- Professional Experience: 2–3 years in an operational, telecommunications, technical, or electrical environment
