Job Summary
The Marathon Martinez California Renewable Facility located in Martinez California is seeking an experienced Senior Turnaround (TAR) Specialist to lead turnaround (TAR) and outage work in assigned refinery areas, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
The available onsite schedule for the position is a 4/10 schedule: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM - Monday-Thursday, after hours calls are required a couple times a year and support of TAR/planned outage 1-3 times a year.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead turnaround (TAR) and outage work in assigned refinery areas, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost targets.
• Serve as primary point of contact for TAR planners and coordinators and any contract support positions per the event's organizational chart.
• Develop and facilitate the Plan of the Plan (POTP), engaging key stakeholders for review and input on scope.
• Stay current with scope and project changes. Report on field progress and verifies work quality, monitoring punch list to avoid turnover delays.
• Review planned jobs in P6, sets weekly contractor priorities based on the POTP, and leads construction progress meetings and pre-job analyses.
• Monitor and adjust contractor resources and associated work hours and manages rental equipment utilization.
• Review Work Scope Approval Forms, Requests For Information, Engineering Project Request Forms Log, Work List, and P6 Primavera schedule on a consistent basis to verify alignment. Ensure all aspects of scope are captured properly on the Turnaround Work List.
• Participate in contracting strategy decisions and controls costs by applying contract terms.
Education, Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Must have High School Diploma or GED. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
Must have five (5) years or more TAR Coordinator/Specialist experience in a refining or petrochemical industry.
Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be proficient with Primavera P6.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
Must have a valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
Must have steady employment history.
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship.
Travel Requirement is 5 % or less.

Preferred Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering degree is preferred.
