About this role
Dow Consumer Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a position as a Senior Technical Service & Development Specialist, located in Guangdong, China. This role will provide technical support to drive business growth for Building & Infrastructure, through technical knowledge on the use, handling, and management of Dow Building and Infrastructure products, and delivering technical solutions to customers and markets. The role is also expected to identify and explore new product and/or applications opportunities and convert them to innovation growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Support Business Growth
- Promote existing and new products (silicone sealant and other building and construction related products based on silicone and other chemistries) and spec in DOW products for the target applications – façade and fenestration, weatherproofing, pro and retail, and green building, infrastructure etc.
- Understand Building and Infrastructure industry, standards and value chain. Oversee Dow’s project services including blueprint review, lab tests, on-site support (job site and/or manufacturing facility).
- Deliver excellent customer experience for existing and prospective customers with a customer-centric mindset and ensure consistent experience across different touchpoints with Dow. Convince others about differentiated technical solutions.
- Gain expertise competitive technologies and utilize for market specific activities.
- Handle quality issues by coordinating with internal commercial and production team and ultimately address it.
- Deliver training to customers and key players in value chain. Deliver presentations with clear results and proposals to influence internal and external audiences.
- Innovation
- Understand customers’ unmet needs, identify new product and/or application opportunities and translate to critical technical requirements accordingly and shape new ideas and develop innovative solutions to drive innovation growth, in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, such as commercial, marketing, manufacturing and R&D.
- Establish internal capabilities to mimic customer applications, study and define material requirements, support product development and set up application tests.
- Participate and engage in cross-functional stakeholders communication (e.g. commercial, marketing, technical) to drive projects to move forward.
- Technical documentation: capable of documenting technical reports, product data sheets, application guides, technology manuals, external presentations, internal reports and patents, etc., as well as delivering external speeches and training sessions.
- Safety: serve as the Environmental, Health & Safety advocate, ensures understanding and adherence to policies and procedures, willing to be the model of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree with majors in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or relevant scientific field.
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience with prior experience in building and infrastructure industry, as application & technical service or product development work.
- Solid application knowledge in façade, architect design, civil engineering is preferred.
- Product knowledge in silicone would be desirable.
- Good written and verbal communication skills both in English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Agility for travel.
