The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is looking to hire an experienced Senior Transportation Officer to join the Transportation Section of the General Services Division. This position is based in the IMF headquarters located in Washington D.C.
The Transportation Section plans, implements, and oversees all aspects of global corporate travel for employees, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company policies. Additionally, the Section is responsible for the travel payment credit card program as well as the Chauffeur Unit.
The Section’s work program includes managing contracts and vendors, developing travel policies and procedures, integrating travel management information systems with internal IT infrastructure, employing appropriate technology to increase efficiency and enhance travelers’ experience.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Overseeing the Travel Management Company (TMC) service to ensure smooth daily operation and contract performance standards are met.
Managing complex, multi-faceted projects and perform skillful analysis of Fund travel to identify and recommend opportunities for improvements in efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Assessing the developments and emerging trends within the travel industry to determine their potential impact on the IMF’s travel requirements and provide detailed recommendations for updates or modifications to internal travel procedures.
Serving as a primary contact, including participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, to support Security and Human Resources with all aspects of duty of care during emergency situations.
Overseeing supplier performance, resolve vendor issues, and participate in RFPs by developing scopes of work and negotiating contract terms.
Developing and implement communication strategies to share travel information and engage with departments and overseas offices to assess satisfaction, address challenges, and plan improvements.
Developing meaningful reports of travel related data and statistics to analyze spend, identify trends, projections, and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders.
Representing the Section in working groups related to benefit and mission travel processes and procedures
Qualifications
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree or equivalent in business administration, travel management, logistics and distribution management, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of professional experience; alternatively, a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, is required. In the alternative, a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related position at Grade A10, or equivalent, is required.
Work Experience
Proven experience in leading all aspects of travel-related services for a global organization, including overseeing the management of third-party service partners.
Demonstrated expertise in leading and guiding staff through change or implementation of new policies, processes, or technology while addressing complex and interconnected challenges.
Possesses comprehensive expertise in airfare distribution systems, including IATA New Distribution Capability (NDC) systems and related innovative products enabling seamless access across all distribution channels.
Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of Sabre Global Distribution System (GDS).
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the travel industry, including experience with travel management companies, travel reservation products including GDS, online booking tools, as well as data and expense reporting systems.
Demonstrated expertise in the areas of international air tariffs, fare calculation techniques, methodologies, travel data reports, airfare and PNR audit, and travel industry regulations.
Demonstrated experience with central billing systems, reconciliation of account statements and working with virtual payment solutions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint at an advanced level.
Languages
For this position, fluency in English language is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which will be followed by competency-based interview.
A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment. Staff members already on a term appointment will continue their current term but may receive an extension provided that their current term appointment has not already been extended.
