Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Sr. Test Technician, you will have the unique opportunity of testing sophisticated scientific instrumentation.  Working with the Field Service, R&D Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering, you will support the creation of new manufacturing processes and procedures to enable successful integration and commercialization of our instruments. You will play a key role in developing the new product transfer process, configuration management, and test documentation. As part of your ongoing responsibility, you will be responsible for electromechanical instrument testing as well as continuing to mentor and train additional new hires who join our growing organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and ensure design control at product release, ensure BOM and build hierarchy are entered into ERP systems.
  • Conduct process validation following previously written instruction and protocols.
  • Work closely with and consistently provide feedback to responsible design and applications engineers to improve manufacture test ability.
  • Engage in system level troubleshooting and root-cause investigations to ensure issues are understood and corrected.
  • Assist in the incorporation of GMP and ensure ease of manufacturing testing.
  • Ability to understand complex test instruction.
  • Perform routine testing of subsystems and instrument level final assembly systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness/production supplies for work area station including equipment.
  • Provide routine equipment and workstation maintenance including necessary logs.
  • Advance or retrieve product, material and tools for self and others.
  • Operate multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously.
  • Incorporate engineering change orders and maintain process documentation.
  • Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools and equipment.
  • Maintain records, move materials and follow safety rules in performance of duties.
  • Use mechanical and electronic measurement equipment to assure specifications are met and troubleshoot failures.

Qualifications

  • BS or Technical College Diploma/Associates Degree preferred in a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing instrument testing in a Clinical Chemistry, Bio or Pharma Instrument Systems field.
  • Proven experience in electromechanical assembly, optics and fluidics; with ability to troubleshoot problems related to these assemblies.
  • Previous experience in ISO medical device and GMP environment.
  • Familiar with the Toyota production system – JIT, Kanban, 5S, Building Flow and Standard Work and kaizen.
  • Competence with common laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • This position requires soft skills to be part of a cross functional team, with excellent written & oral communication and presentation/documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $27.49 - $34.71. Additionally, this role is eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and may receive equity as part of the compensation package. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly.
