Senior Technical Project Manager - Configuration and PLM

Senior Technical Project Manager - Configuration and PLM, you will provide the technical guidance, systems architecture, and cross-functional alignment required to mature our PLM and configuration management systems into a scalable, production-ready backbone. You will work with engineers and program management team members, helping elevate processes from operational coordination to fully integrated, engineering-driven lifecycle management. This role combines hands-on configuration execution with the strategic development of scalable PLM and lifecycle management systems. As we scale spacecraft production and ground infrastructure, configuration integrity becomes even more important and critical to our success. 

Role

Drive definition of the long-term PLM and configuration management architecture to ensure robust hardware and software baseline control across development, production and operations. Drive digital thread integration across Engineering Design, ERP, MES, requirements, and quality systems.

  • Transition the organization from reactive change management to proactive configuration strategy
  • Identify gaps in traceability and system integration and help implement tailored improvements
  • Ensure full lifecycle traceability: requirements → design → build → test → launch → operations
  • Support production scaling with strong version control and product definition discipline
  • Reduce configuration risk that could impact mission success
  • Design processes that support both rapid iteration and high-rate manufacturing
  • Implement automation and workflow improvements within PLM tools
  • Define KPIs for change cycle time, configuration accuracy, and release quality
Requirements
  • 8–12+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, space, automotive, or other complex hardware environments
  • Engineering background (systems, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with configuration control of both hardware and embedded software
  • Demonstrated ability to build or mature PLM/CM systems in scaling organizations
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-moving startup
  • Excels in fast paced environments and able to navigate ambiguity
  • Able to collaborate with stakeholders and communicate with cross-functional partners effectively

  • Familiarity with Jira, Altium, Solidworks, Arena, ERP, MES systems

Base pay is just one component of Astranis’s total rewards package. Astranis pay ranges are informed and defined through professional-grade salary surveys and compensation data sources. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, and the level and scope of the position.

$170,000$220,000 USD
