We’re seeking a Senior Environment Technical Artist who can bring large scale environments to life. Working with designers, engineers and artists, you will play a major role in the creation and technical execution of maps, establishing best practices, developing tools and ensuring the game runs smoothly on all platforms.

This role is ideal for a technical artist focused on map creation and optimization. Someone who thrives with a technical mindset, loves building beautiful places but also cares deeply about the underlying systems and overall performance of the map for players.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and validate new solutions to increase the visual fidelity of Palia. 
  • Collaborate with Gameplay Designers, Engineers, and Artists to find and solve issues in the map creation workflow.  
  • Analyze performance of maps, finding trouble areas, raising awareness, and fixing problems. 
  • Balance product goals, technical trade-offs, player experience, and timelines, ensuring features are scoped and delivered effectively.
  • Offer hands-on support for artists, helping troubleshoot and resolve integration or performance issues.
  • Train and mentor artists in new tools and workflows, focusing on usability, scalability, and technical grace.

Who You Are

  • You’ve worked as an Environment Technical Artist on at least one shipped game or product in Unreal Engine.
  • Experience developing or making tools and pipelines in Unreal Blueprint, C++, python or other scripting language
  • Ability to diagnose complex environment or performance issues and propose practical solutions that can scale with production.
  • You’re known for identifying issues early, unblocking teams, and navigating ambiguity with clarity and confidence.
  • You’re curious, adaptable, and self-motivated, always seeking better solutions and learning new tools or techniques.
  • You’re the go-to problem solver for artists, trusted for your technical insight and collaborative spirit.

Nice to Have:

  • Background in cozy, simulation, or multiplayer game development.
  • Having optimized and shipped a game for multiple platforms.
  • Knowledge of large-world streaming or world partition tools
  • Experience with terrain systems or foliage tools.
  • Familiarity with material and shader development.

Salary Information:

The information below represents the Base Salary Range. Base salary will be determined by the role, level, and location. The range listed for each job is the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for positions in that area. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors. Please discuss your specific salary expectations for your preferred location during our interview process.

  • California: $121,800 - $167,000
  • Colorado: $121,800 - $158,650
  • Connecticut: $121,800 - 151,800
  • Illinois: $121,800 - $158,650
  • Massachusetts: $121,800 - $167,000
  • Nevada: $121,800 - 151,800
  • New York: $121,000 - $167,000

  • Choice of Remote (in approved states and provinces) or Hybrid office options in Los Angeles, CA
  • Aligned to core Pacific Coast hours (10:00am - 4:00pm PT)
