The Opportunity 

Join the Information Technology team as a Desktop Support Specialist supporting a dynamic academic environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of technologies while directly impacting faculty, staff, and student success. The position provides hands-on experience with multi-platform systems, exposure to emerging technologies, and the chance to contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented IT environment within a globally recognized university.

Key Job Functions

  • Provide technical support for desktop hardware, software, and peripherals across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to complex technical issues, including networking and system performance concerns

  • Install, configure, and maintain computing devices and applications for faculty, staff, and students

  • Support academic labs, point-of-sale systems, and mobile devices (iOS/Android)

  • Document incidents, resolutions, and processes in ticketing systems and knowledge bases

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users

  • Assist with deployment, testing, and implementation of new technologies and system upgrades

  • Collaborate with IT teams on projects, initiatives, and strategic improvements

  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to higher education

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certifications preferred

  • 1–3 years of experience in desktop support or a related IT field

  • Proficiency in Windows and macOS operating systems; familiarity with Linux is a plus

  • Basic networking knowledge (e.g., TCP/IP, DHCP)

  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced environment
