Senior Staff Engineer - Enterprise Messaging and Exchange

NVIDIA is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer, Enterprise Messaging Platforms to guide the invention, reliability, security, and evolution of our global email and messaging framework. You will handle core services such as Microsoft Exchange (on-premises, hybrid, and Exchange Online/O365), Azure-based services, and SMTP/IMAP integrations. These services play a crucial role in how NVIDIA teams communicate, collaborate, and ship outstanding products. The position requires the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high standards and collaboration across teams.

What you will be doing:

  • Architect, implement, and operate highly available messaging solutions using Microsoft Exchange (on-premises/hybrid/Exchange Online), Azure services, SMTP relays, and IMAP; establish and enforce architecture standards and best practices across regions/environments.

  • Plan and execute server upgrades and monthly patching; ensure configurations and changes meet compliance and audit requirements.

  • Monitor health, performance, and capacity; analyze logs/traces and protocol flows to prevent incidents, minimize downtime, and optimize throughput and user experience.

  • Provide expert-level diagnosis and resolution for complex mail flow issues; deep knowledge of SMTP/IMAP, connectors, transport rules, and messaging architecture.

  • Implement encryption, email authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and anti-virus/anti-spam protections (e.g., Microsoft Defender); maintain secure configurations and hardening baselines.

  • Lead/assist initiatives such as migrations, tenant consolidations, and M&A; define requirements and integration points with enterprise messaging and exchange apps and services.

  • Handle day-to-day operations and escalations; mentor engineers/architects and foster a culture of learning, documentation, SOPs, run-books, and enabling support team.

  • Build strategy to keep enhancing the messaging ecosystems with evolving technologies.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 8+ years of proven experience architecting and managing Exchange Server (on-prem & SE), hybrid/Exchange Online (O365), Public Folders, SMTP, Active Directory, Azure integrations.

  • Demonstrable ability to take end-to-end ownership of the experience for the users of the services.

  • Solid understanding of Exchange architecture, including concepts such as DAGs (Database Availability Groups), hybrid configurations,

  • Extremely motivated, highly passionate, and curious about new technologies. Take pride in your work and strive to achieve incredible results and possess superb communication and planning skills.

  • Ability to work successfully with multi-functional teams, principals, and architects. Coordinates optimally across organizational boundaries and geographies.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience leading large scale messaging platforms and driving resolution for critical severity issues.

  • Passion to leverage Agentic AI to automate operations and reliability of services.

  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation is crucial, Python scripting is a plus.

  • Knowledge of networking concepts related to email (DNS, VIP routing etc.)

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 140,000 USD - 224,250 USD for Level 4, and 168,000 USD - 264,500 USD for Level 5.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
