The Senior Specialist, Securities Eligibility & Onboarding is a high-impact role dedicated to driving the vision for issuer services and leading complex security transactions within the Canadian capital markets. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will serve as a subject matter expert in security eligibility and data taxonomy, partnering with issuers, legal counsel, and agents to navigate the onboarding process. You will be instrumental in executing process improvements, managing the CDS Security Master File (SMF), and ensuring that mission-critical data requirements are met within tight market timelines.
This role is hybrid (2-3 days/week in the office) - we are open to candidates being located in one of our Canadian office locations: Toronto, Montreal
This role reports to Senior Manager, Issuer Services.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead Complex Transactions: Direct the end-to-end operational aspects of security issuance and eligibility at CDS, ensuring all ISINs allocated according to ISO standards and corporate action or tax implications are resolved.
Drive Data Integrity: Manage the CDS Security Master File (SMF) data taxonomy, serving as the enterprise expert on global data standards and identifying new data elements to fuel growth in data sales.
Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with issuers and legal counsel to onboard new security types, providing expert guidance on depository eligibility and navigating complex new issues or unique corporate action requirements.
Optimize Operations: Identify and implement process efficiencies and work requests to modernize workflows, ensuring alignment with global standards and TMX strategic initiatives.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the central point of contact for CDS Management and external partners (DTC, data vendors, and participants) on urgent matters impacting market clients.
Risk Mitigation & Escalation: Ensure timely and appropriate escalation of issues to management in accordance with established procedures and policies while identifying recommendations for risk mitigation.
Mentorship & Performance: Provide leadership and coaching to team members, contributing to performance development and a culture of continuous improvement.
Must Have(s):
Industry Expertise: 5–10 years of experience in the financial services industry, specifically within Equities, Fixed Income, or Global Capital Markets.
Educational Background: University degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Technical Mastery: Intermediate to expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience managing complex data Masterfiles or taxonomies.
High-Performance Execution: Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority transactions and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strategic Advisory: Exceptional ability to guide legal counsel and external stakeholders through complex financial concepts and operational requirements.
Leadership: Strong mentoring skills and a track record of leading projects or work initiatives with minimal guidance.
Nice to Have(s):
Legal Liaison Experience: Direct experience working alongside issuers' legal counsel or securities lawyers is a significant asset.
Salary Range: $80,000/year - $90,000/year CAD. The salary offered may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the successful candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
