Job Description:

The Role: 

Our site in Ambler, PA is seeking a Senior Scientist to join the stable isotopes team (IsoSciences).  

The IsoSciences team is comprised of a small but close-knit group of highly experienced chemists who are responsible for maintaining a product catalog featuring hundreds of labeled and non-labeled steroids, vitamins, bile acids, and other small molecules. A Senior Scientist on the IsoSciences team is expected to synthesize stable isotope-labeled and non-labeled organic compounds using documented protocols (for routine production), while also being prepared to scout new procedures to optimize / improve existing processes, and perform some new product development. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Synthesize target molecules using established routes and procedures, ensuring yield, budget, and timeline expectations are met and that the product meets specifications. 

  • Be able to run parallel chemistry for troubleshooting or optimizing synthetic steps. 

  • Record reaction information, observations, and conclusions in an electronic lab notebook. 

  • Author and revise document-controlled Synthesis Reports upon completion of a project. 

  • Maintain regular and effective communication to keep the team and management informed of your progress, including in-lab signage and technical presentations. 

  • Effectively use in-process data to justify decisions in the laboratory (NMR, LCMS, TLC, etc.) 

  • Work safely and in an organized fashion, adhering to site and corporate EHS ideals. 

  • Assist in the production of CertiMass Solutions (measurement, dilution, and sealing) 

What We Seek: 

  • Qualified individuals will have a strong background in organic chemistry, a drive to get things done, are naturally accountable for their actions, and do well in a team setting. 

  • Minimum education requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 6-10 years of related experience; a Master’s Degree in Chemistry and 3-5 years’ experience, or a Ph. D. in Chemistry with 1-2 years of related experience. 

Outstanding Candidates Will Have: 

  • Experience synthesizing organic molecules on milligram to multi-gram scale, especially vitamins, steroids, and/or stable isotopes. 

  • Experience using Biotage and/or ISCO flash systems, Waters MassLynx, and Agilent ChemStation. 

  • Demonstrated time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple work flows simultaneously.
