On running

Senior Specialist - Event Marketing

Portland Full Time

In short

Our mission at On is to ignite the human spirit through movement — and our Events team plays a critical role in bringing this to life. We’re looking for a Sr. Specialist, Event Marketing to build and lead a portfolio of new store opening activations, campaign activations, tradeshows and events with wholesale partners. From strategic planning to hands-on execution — or as we like to say, from strategy to duct tape — you’ll create dynamic and engaging activations that build brand affinity, foster connection, and inspire movement in our core communities. To excel in this role, you can lead the integrated work and organizational detail of events, while bringing endless creativity, a thirst for experimentation, and consumer first mindset to support On’s brand growth in North America. You will be a key member of On’s North American marketing team in Portland, OR, and a close partner to our Global Events Team in Zurich.

Your Mission

  • Lead integrated portfolio of DTC retail events, trade events, and/or B2B events from concept to execution.
  • Align across marketing channels, retail ops, and global retail planning, and B2B marketing teams to develop a scalable annual activation plan that supports commercial priorities.
  • Innovate how we show up — applying critical thinking and creativity to evolve the run activation landscape.
  • Become a trusted process expert, navigating multiple projects in various stages, with a passion for optimizing and building work processes.
  • Concept, build, and rollout effective activation toolkits to DTC retail locations and B2B partners.
  • Balance continually evolving needs of key stakeholders on the brand experience, retail, and campaigns teams.
  • Measure impact of each activation against brand and commercial goals, using data and insights to inform future strategy.
  • Build and lead a trusted bench of agency, contractor, and production partners to deliver best-in-class event experiences.

Your Story

  • 3-5 years of event marketing, retail, and partner marketing experience, from concept to execution, ideally within premium retail or sportswear.
  • Expert in independently leading work through an integrated marketing lens, ensuring an omnichannel approach to all projects.
  • Strong budget management skills (forecasting, budget tracking, negotiating, and reporting) for projects up to $400k USD.
  • Experience navigating agency outsourcing — including RFPs, SOW creation, and managing agencies, contractors and freelancers.
  • Proven track record of building scalable, consistent, and premium event concepts that adapt across markets and store locations.
  • Comfortable managing complexity and competing priorities; a decisive problem solver and an influential communicator.
  • Experience planning and evaluating a network of tradeshows across North America.
  • Deep understanding of DTC retail, run specialty and the run landscape in North America
  • Skilled in project management tools (Asana etc.) and experience setting and adhering to project timelines. Not afraid to think outside the box to refine process and strategy.

Your Team

The Brand Experience team brings On’s mission to ignite the human spirit through movement to life across North America. We lead the physical expression of the brand across retail environments, events, and community activations; creating premium, high-impact moments that connect people to our brand. Our team includes B2B Marketing, DTC Retail Marketing, Visual Merchandising, Events, Community Marketing, and Tech Reps, working together to build meaningful brand experiences across both On-owned and partner touchpoints. The team fosters a culture of continuous learning and holistic well-being, supporting each member to build their best self.
