SALARY: £70,929 - £80,000
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in the above office location

As a Solution Architect, the position includes acting as a technology evangelist, blending customer needs with modern, robust technologies to ensure our services are scalable and impactful. Key responsibilities:
Deliver a prescribed budget for own area of the organisation and/or conducts complex analyses on budget progress in other areas while working within established systems.
Identify shortcomings in compliance processes, systems, and procedures within the assigned unit or field. Recommend and implement improvements to business practices. Develop and deliver projects or workstreams within the organisation’s transition initiatives, under the mentorship of senior colleagues.
Develop capabilities by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities and develops the capabilities of direct reports by working within existing development framework; provides specialised training or coaching in area of expertise to others throughout the organisation.
Analyses and evaluates the feasibility/relevance of proposals for complex products/services, then develops and amends as necessary with guidance from senior colleagues and/or supervises activities performed by a product development/specialist team.
Develops and/or delivers elements of a planning system with mentorship from senior colleagues.

What you’ll need
Story-telling skills to describe our Target Architecture and get real agreement to achieve it.
The practical experience required to define the technology patterns, standards and practices we will use to guide our organisation.
Proven experience in decomposing legacy monolithic systems into modern, scalable microservices architectures.
The personality and relationship-building skills to energise our product and engineering communities.
The knowledge to be able to talk to and understand our customers, reaching solutions that meet their needs.
Experience gaining approval for designs and solutions via formal governance.
And any experience of these would be really useful
Practical experience of designing and building cloud-based platforms at scale. You will know and understand the benefits and trade-offs of the various approaches to building out contemporary cloud-ready and cloud-native platforms.
Understand the importance and ability to design and promote reusable architecture patterns and components to drive consistency, scalability, and efficiency across solutions.
Strong understanding of API integration patterns and security patterns.
Understanding of domain driven design architectures – understanding where these are applicable and supporting implementation.
Exposure to Retirement/Pension products.
A working knowledge of contemporary engineering practices as well as Agile delivery methodologies.
