Our Connected Aviation – Air Traffic Solutions Quality team is seeking a Software Quality Engineer (SWQE) to support program lifecycles and ensure that products and processes are compliant with program, company, and regulatory standards.

What You Will Do

  • Interface with program management, engineering, development, integration and test teams

  • Interface with Customer representatives

  • Assess Engineering work products (Peer Reviews, Configuration Control Boards, Code Reviews, Product Readiness, etc.) to identify and eliminate in-phase defects

  • Schedule and perform program internal audits and objective evaluations to verify compliance and effectiveness with program processes

  • Manage program Corrective Actions, perform root cause analysis

  • Develop, review, and approve program Quality Plans, CDRLs, etc.

  • Participate in program team meetings, peer reviews, technical reviews, and formal reviews, such as Gate reviews and program milestone reviews

  • Participate in test preparation and execution to ensure requirement verification

  • Participate (identify, review, mitigate) in program Risk and Opportunity process

  • Provide proposal inputs including: labor bids with justifiable task descriptions / Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

  • Drive continuous improvement

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Experience with quality systems, ISO 9001/AS 9100, quality concepts and an understanding of aerospace/defense regulations and standards.

  • Analytical skills in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions

  • Domain knowledge in SW Coding and/or Testing

  • Domain knowledge in Agile/Scrum, DevOps, Code Analysis

  • Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project and Outlook)

  • This role will require obtaining a FAA clearance

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in engineering processes, in systems engineering or quality, or related field

  • Independent, self-motivated individual with demonstrated success in leading teams

  • Working knowledge in aerospace

  • Proven ability as BOE developer and Approver

  • Strong presentation skills and proven success communicating at all levels

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
