Red Hat

Senior Software Engineer, UI/UX Designer

Pune - Tower 6 Full time

Red Hat’s Customer Experience & Engagement (CEE) team is looking for a detailed-oriented, creative and proficient Senior UI/UX Designer (Frontend Developer) to join our Business Intelligence team.

This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws.

At Red Hat, our commitment to open source innovation extends beyond our products - it’s embedded in how we work and grow. Red Hatters embrace change – especially in our fast-moving technological landscape – and have a strong growth mindset. That's why we encourage our teams to proactively, thoughtfully, and ethically use AI to simplify their workflows, cut complexity, and boost efficiency. This empowers our associates to focus on higher-impact work, creating smart, more innovative solutions that solve our customers' most pressing challenges.

What you will do:

  • Design-to-Code Translation: Convert Figma/Adobe XD/Sketch mockups into clean, semantic, and reusable HTML/CSS/JS code with pixel-perfect accuracy.

  • AI-assisted development: Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.

  • Component Architecture: Build and maintain a scalable Design System or UI Component Library (e.g., in Storybook) to ensure consistency across the product.

  • User Experience Enhancement: Implement smooth micro-interactions, animations, and transitions to delight users without sacrificing performance.

  • Responsiveness & Compatibility: Ensure the interface works flawlessly across all device sizes (mobile, tablet, desktop) and modern browsers.

  • Accessibility (a11y): Champion inclusive design by ensuring all code meets WCAG standards (keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility).

  • Collaboration: Participate in design reviews to provide technical feasibility feedback early in the creative process.

What you will bring:

Technical Skills

  • Core Web Technologies: Mastery of HTML5, CSS, TypeScript and JavaScript

  • CSS Mastery: Deep knowledge of modern CSS layout techniques (Flexbox, Grid), pre-processors (SASS/SCSS), or CSS-in-JS libraries (Styled Components, Emotion).

  • Frameworks: Proficient in a modern JavaScript framework, preferably React, Vue.js, or Angular.

  • Animation: Experience with animation libraries (e.g., Framer Motion, GSAP, CSS Animations) to create engaging UI interactions.

  • Tools: Familiarity with version control (Git) and package managers (npm/yarn).

Design & Soft Skills

  • Design Tool Proficiency: You don't need to be a designer, but you must be comfortable navigating Figma or Sketch to inspect assets, measure spacing, and export resources.

  • Detail Oriented: You have a "designer’s eye" for typography, whitespace, and visual hierarchy.

  • Empathy: You prioritize the user's needs and can explain why a UI decision matters to non-technical stakeholders.
