Teledyne Controls Flight Data Company (TCFDC) is the principal office in the United Kingdom where one of the business activities is the development of sophisticated ground-based software applications for the replay and analysis of recorded flight data after retrieval from the aircraft. We are pleased to announce that we now have a position available for a for a Software Engineer to join a highly skilled team. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who has strong verbal and written communications skills and who is as passionate about developing the best software as we are. Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our collaborative and technically diverse team responsible for developing state-of-the-art ground software for commercial aircraft. Our solutions are used by major commercial airlines and military organizations to enhance safety and operational efficiency.

As a senior software engineer, you’ll take ownership of feature development while contributing to the overall architecture, system integration, and quality assurance of our products. You’ll also have the opportunity to grow technically and professionally within a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and unit test robust, scalable software components.

  • Develop backend APIs and tools with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and system architecture decisions

  • Work collaboratively with QA, product managers, and fellow engineers in Agile sprints

  • Participate in peer code reviews and assist junior team members as needed.

  • Participate fully in SDLC: planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews

  • Contribute to documentation, including technical specifications and API references

  • Engage in internal meetings, customer communication, and industry events as needed.

Your Background

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

  • At least 5 years of professional software development experience.

  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with:

    • Python

    • C#/.NET

    • TypeScript & Angular

    • HTML/CSS

    • Relational Databases, especially MySQL

  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs

  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms, especially AWS (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS)

  • Good debugging, troubleshooting, and system analysis skills

  • Experience with Git and standard version control workflows

Desirable

  • Exposure to the aviation or aerospace industry

  • Agile/Scrum project experience

  • Experience with containerization (e.g., Docker) and CI/CD pipelines

  • Familiarity with Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) or legacy Windows-based services

  • Experience with AI and AI development workflows.

  • Configuration management and automated testing tools

Interview Process

  • Stage 1: Teams call with the hiring manager and the site manager to get to know each other.

  • Stage 2: In person interview with the hiring manager and the engineering lead which includes technical questions and a paired programming task.

  • Stage 3: In person interview with Head of Digital Solutions with competency-based questions.
