The mission:

Baubap is building the most inclusive financial platform in LATAM. To achieve this, we need robust, stable backend systems capable of sustaining intelligent automation at scale.

As a Senior Software Engineer, AI Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and evolving the backend system that powers our AI agent for Customer Success. In this role, you will execute improvements, resolve incidents, optimize performance, create testing environments, and enable the continuous evolution of the agent.

Your work will ensure that the AI agent operates stably, efficiently, and scalably, serving as a critical component in our daily operations.

  • High operational stability: The AI agent's backend operates with low latency, sustained stability, and minimal technical incidents.
  • Solid and scalable architecture: The system evolves towards a modular, decoupled structure prepared to handle volume increases without degradation.
  • Reliable automation: Agent flows operate stably and predictably, with reduced technical failures.
  • Continuous iteration: Ongoing improvements, experiments, and variants are developed to evolve the agent's behavior and efficiency.
 
Day to day tasks:
  • Maintain and improve the internal flows, services, and modules that enable the AI agent to operate stably and efficiently.
  • Implement technical optimizations aimed at improving performance, resource usage, and response times.
  • Diagnose, resolve, and prevent agent-related incidents, including root cause analysis and hardening actions.
  • Develop test agents, experimentation environments, and A/B variants that enable continuous technical iteration.
  • Perform technical prompt engineering adjustments (context, parameters, configurations) necessary for the agent's operation.

 

Why YOU should apply:

  • 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining backend systems in production.
  • Mastery of Python as the primary language for service development.
  • Experience with distributed systems, concurrency control, message queues, and event-driven architectures (SQS, Redis streams/queues, background workers).
  • Experience building and integrating backend services that expose structured tools to LLMs (e.g., MCP servers or similar tools) and with systems that integrate LLM-based agents.
  • Previous experience working with LLM-based systems or agents, adjusting the technical configurations necessary for their operation.
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience working with AWS (Bedrock, ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM).
  • Experience using Datadog for logs, metrics, and traces in backend systems, or similar observability tools.
 
Nice to Have
  • Previous experience in fintech.
  • Understanding of basic financial concepts (interest, payments, amortization).
  • Familiarity with building or maintaining systems operated by AI agents (especially MCP).
  • Experience working in Customer Success, technical support, or customer service flows.
  • Understanding of security considerations in LLM-based systems (guardrails, validation steps, error handling).
